10:10 CAWD / Web Dev Project: File Types

This week web project will be creating a multi page website around the topic of file formats.

Different formats are used for different uses, and we need to be aware of them.

You are going to:

Research a list of file formats. Answer questions for each format.
Create a page for that format that answers the questions.
Cite where you found your information on each page.

Create 1 perfect page and structure, and duplicate for the other 3 pages. Then just swap out the information on the new, copied pages.

The formats you will be looking up. These will be the links in your nav:

Since we will have 4 file formats you will have a 4 page website.

Each page will have the following information about the format. Keep the format consistent page by page so we can quickly glance at your pages and find out the information quickly and easily.

What does abbreviation stand for?
Does the format use or Lossy, Lossless compression?
Is the file Raster/Bitmap or Vector based?
Is the format best used for:
- Photographs with many colors?
- Logos / illustrations with few colors?
Does the format support transparency?
Does the format support animation?
Incorporate an example of that filetype in your project by using the img tag. All images should be the same size. One page will display a .jpg, one will display a .gif, one will display a .png, and the final page will display a svg.
Citation to the site where you found your information page by page. These will be outbound absolute links to the internet.

Technical Requirements:

4 valid page website
Use of h1 in header that says “File Formats“
Use of external CSS for all styling
Use your web knowledge to display the required information:
- headings, paragraphs, lists, links, etc.
Use a’s to create relative links for web pages in a nav, and a’s to create absolute links for citations at the bottom of each page.

Create a folder called “formats“, and start with an “index.html”. This will be for the jpg page/format as it is the first file type. Label the other pages logically.
