Class Hours: 9:40 – 2:05
Mr. Cronin
Notes
- Today we will have a short Welcome presentation from our CTE Administration.
- As we move into our Bedroom Unit, a neat Blender visualization for a furniture company in Europe.
- If you now have an Unreal icon on your desktop lets move it to our task bar. Make sure the only icon on your desktop is the recycle bin.
9:40 Attendance and Article
9:45 15 Minutes of Production
- Let’s start a routine of 15 minutes of Production every Monday morning to start the week.
- Ensure all of your work is in the “week_03” folder on the public.
- I copy the folder down at 10:35 for full credit work. Don’t cut it close. Get your work in with time to spare.
10:00 Administrator Presentation: Welcome to CAWD
CTE Assistant Director Mr. Wright is going to do a welcome / intro presentation to CAWD.
- Welcome
- The Do’s
- The Don’t’s
- Any questions please ask as more than one person likely has the same question in the room.
10:35 Morning Outside Break (10 minutes)
- 10 Minutes outside / just out our door.
- Throw the Frisbee, toss the football, kick the kickball, or just get some Vitamin D and not be at a desk.
10:45 Class Critiques
Rory will be giving constructive criticism today. He will be picking out one thing he likes, and one thing he would improve, for each project.
11:35 Sketch Lesson
- Orthographic / Layouts – all part of pre production that roughly does the same thing.
- Practical Art vs. Fine Art (we will do both)
11:55 Design Homework 4: Bedroom Layout
In the next page of your CAWD sketchbook I want you to create your Bedroom Layout. We are going to use this Design Homework as Pre production for our Bedroom Projects.
If you are uncomfortable sharing your personal space, then design a bedroom with some generic elements like a bed, dresser, lights, etc. Don’t design a bedroom with waterfalls, built in Taco Bell, and a zoo.
Color required as it will help you as a Concept Artist define what is going where. In the real world your Concept Art may be whisked away and given to 3D Designers in a different room / building / country. Your work has to stand on its on and really represent what will be created. In Renee’s example above I can clearly see:
- White bear rug
- Green comforter
- Abstract paintings
- Satanic rug (it really ties the room together)
- etc
Scan your image when complete (better than a photo) and save as “(lastName)DH4.jpg”.
12:15 Lunch (30 Minutes)
- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

1:10 Afternoon Outside Break (10 minutes)
- 10 Minutes outside / just out our door.
- Throw the Frisbee, toss the football, kick the kickball, or just get some Vitamin D and not be at a desk.
