10:05 Let’s talk about WorkKeys end of the year testing
WorkKeys post testing will take place next Tuesday May 10th, and next Thursday May 12th.
If you have NOT scored a 5 the test given that day, you will have school and take the test.
If you HAVE scored a 5 on the test that day, you will have NO SCHOOL. You may NOT come to CAWD on Tuesday or Thursday the 10th and 12th of May. Someone like Eli Adams only has CAWD next Monday / Wednesday / Friday.
If your name does not show up on the list, you have next Tuesday and Thursday off. If you don’t have a “1”, that means you have that day off. If you have two 1’s, you have testing on both days.
So, let’s all digest this. Who thinks they have off next Tuesday and Thursday? This does mean you may have academic classes as normal at your different sending schools, but you don’t come to CAWD.
You should have received an email with Friday April 29th – “Upcoming dates of no school at CTE…“
You need to make sure you have something to work on when you are done – some will be in CAWD and this is easy. Some will be in CAWD2 and it may be harder. You are going to have to figure it out.
10:20 Web Design
- Intro to PHP
- What is PHP? PHP is like that dented, old, full sized pickup Truck. Is it the newest and greatest thing out there? No, but it gets the job done – and is a reality in web development in the wild.
- The thing is – we need a web server. But wait! I told you there was a reason we were using Xampp! It wasn’t just random teacher yelling about things that don’t matter.
- Apache vs. MySQL.
- MariaDB – a fork of MySQL, in essence, the same as MySQL to 99% of Earth’s population. Completely different to your local uber-Nerd.

10:45 Critiques
Jasper will be giving constructive criticism today. Pick out one thing that works, and one thing to improve upon in the future.
11:20 Web Design
- Writing PHP
- File has to be .php to tell the web server (Xampp in this case) that the PHP Engine on the web server should parse (read and process) the .php code.
- PHP Includes … maybe
- Splitting up page into different components.
- Why would you this?
- Edit only 1 component, not the entire file.
- Ethan is in charge of the nav and lives in Ireland, Lance is in charge of the footer and lives in Japan, working on the same project but in sections as individuals.
