11:35 2 Week Partner Haunted Graveyard Level
Leading up to Halloween, over the next two weeks you are going to be working with a partner to develop a Haunted Graveyard level in Unreal. This will be something we can play and explore as a video game environment.
This week is a first draft. We will see your work at the half way mark, give recommendations, you can see what other groups are doing.
Next week you complete and perfect your level, right before Halloween…..
You will and your partner will each choose a main role to be responsible of for this project:
- Lead Artist – creates the majority of the assets in Blender / Photoshop. Gives to the Lead Level Designer.
- Lead Level Designer – works in Unreal to build the game level itself. In charge of creating the final screencast.
Both partners may drift back and forth between roles helping each other out on each others machines, but the roles you start with will stick. (The game for example will be built on one partners Google drive account, so that partner will be in charge of building the game.)
The first element to the project is to get together and share your concept art. Decide the art direction of your project. Who is going to take which role?
There is a folder called “graveyard” inside of the CAWD public drive. Create a group folder inside of graveyard to share copies of assets back and forth between the group. Most likely going from Lead Artist -> Lead Level Designer.
By the end of the week you will create a 1080p screencast of walking around and exploring your level. Call your fine “(lastNames)GraveyardDraft.mp4”. No sound is required for the first draft screencast.
Once you and your group get together and agree on roles / directions – get to it! Remember to save all work on your own drive and only put COPIES of your work on the public.
