Mr. Cronin

- Pretty Blender animation.
9:40 Attendance and Article
9:45 School ID Photos & Expectations
Mrs. Curtis is going to take our ID photos this morning. She is quite nice, and we are going to listen to her instructions.
Highlights:
- No hoods
- No headphones
- No hats
- Has to be a boring, serious, photos
She has been getting some flack from some … frustrating students about this or that, so let’s do better.
I am going to bring you down to the room and then Mrs. Curtis will call you for your photo. Once complete you are going to walk on down the hall back to CAWD and get to work in a supplemental portion of “PM” production. I have the order you are taking photos in, so don’t try the “I went last” or “I got lost” story. We don’t have time for it. Nobody believes you.
Everyone needs to have their files on the “Public folder” inside of the “week_02” folder, inside your folder that is your last name that you create. Just like last time.
10:10 Start of School Bonus Production Time
Make sure everything is ready to be presented to the class. I am going to copy down the “week_02” folder at 10:35 sharp so we all have the same deadline to be fair, regardless of if you present today or tomorrow.

10:35 Morning Outside Break (10 minutes)
- 10 Minutes outside / just out our door.
- Throw the Frisbee, toss the football, kick the kickball, or just get some Vitamin D and not be at a desk.
10:45 Class Critiques
Garret Sample will be giving constructive criticism today. He will be picking out one thing he likes, and one thing he would improve, for each project.
Transferable / Employability Skills
Businesses told CTE that “soft skills” are sometimes more valuable than your technical or creative abilities. A hard working, conscientious person is going to likely find an easier professional life than someone that needs to be hand held through their day. You are all about to be young adults. We are going to practice best practice behaviors in CAWD.
Transferable / Employability Skills:
- 20% of your grade
- Reflect:
- Being on time.
- Being on task.
- Working well with others.
- Following directions.
- Working clean.
- They were recorded this week, but not graded. I wanted to give you a snapshot of different students (names redacted) so you can see where you would have stood.
What would they earn for their T/E grade?
Student 1:
- Nothing negative.
- On time every day.
- Never had to be told to get back to work, quiet down.
Student 2:
- Missed Dailies
- Late once
Student 3:
- Swore in class
- Missed dailies
- Computer left on
Student 4:
- Art supplies not put away
- Computer left on two nights
- Chair never pushed in
- Headphones left out
Student 5:
- Headphones left out 3 times
- Computer on
- Late twice
- Headphones not wrapped up
Student 6:
- Talked to about volume multiple times
- Computer on
- Missed dailies
Student 7:
- Helping those nearby
So, as you see these notes are recorded … daily. For Week 2 it was just a data collection and reporting to you without any formal grading as we are still getting used to our workflow. Stating this week the data collection you a T/E grade going forward in your gradebook.
11:35 CAWD Sketch Lesson
- Introduction to different shading methods.
11:55 Design Homework 3: Chess Pieces Sketch
In the next page of your sketchbook I want you to draw a minimum of 3 Chess pieces. This will act not only as practice, but also pre-production for this weeks Group Chess Board project (we start tomorrow).
At a minimum:
- 3 Chess Pieces
- A plane like environment (doesn’t have to be a board) for your pieces to sit.
- Include shading so that it feels like the pieces have depth. Depending on your angle include shading of the pieces on the ground so the design is rooted in an environment, not just pieces flying through space. Pick one type of shading and use for the entire project.
Sign and date in the corner. This will be presented to the class next Monday morning as one of your 3 CAWD Projects for the week, as Design Homework 3.
Your digital file will be called: “(lastName)DH3.jpg”.
12:15 Lunch (30 Minutes)
- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.
12:45 Attendance and Article
12:50 Guided Practice
1:10 Afternoon Outside Break (10 minutes)
- 10 Minutes outside / just out our door.
- Throw the Frisbee, toss the football, kick the kickball, or just get some Vitamin D and not be at a desk.
1:20 Afternoon Production
2 of the 3 weekly projects have been assigned:
- DH3 – Chess Pieces Sketch
- “(lastName)DH3.jpg”
- Student Agency Project (Blender)
- “(lastName)Agency_1.jpg” through “(lastName)Agency_3.jpg”
Start working on one of the two assignments, or CAWD English.
