9:45 Orthographic Character Creation – Andy’s Co-Star

This morning we are going to model the Co-stars to an upcoming Andy & ___________ animation.

Each of you will receive a random piece of concept art for a floating droid character. On Monday you acted in the role of the concept artist, and today you are going to act in the role as the modeler. What you model today will be used in a 2 character animation next week.

Your Workflow:

1. Scan / take a high quality photo of your concept art. I am taking the art back at 11:45.
2. Bring into Photoshop and split into 3 separate images.
3. Setup in Blender with 3 reference planes. Get Checked Off when you have this setup in Blender.
4. Model your character. Remember that we don’t care AT ALL what you think, or what your interpretation on the character is. You are going to be held against the Concept Art. You are to visualize what another artist has created – this is very common in our industry. Remember that the Concept Artist just created with the Creative Director wanted, and the Creative Director just created what the Director wanted, and the Director just created what the Producer wanted, and the Producer just created … up and up it goes.

I am collecting these pieces of Concept Art today at 11:45.

While the line at the scanner undoubtedly forms in about 30 seconds, make progress in your life by:

• Making progress on the Famous Scene Shot by Shot remake until the line goes down.
• Make progress on your Agency until the line goes down.
• Make progress on your Design Homework until the line goes down.

There is always something you can work on now so you have more relaxing end of the week.
