10:00 WorkKeys Testing Day 2
Today we are going to start our WorkKeys Testing. Today we are going to take the Applied Math Assessment. This is one of 3 assessments you may be taking.
If you score high enough on the first two assessments, you will get the chance to take the Graphic Literacy assessment. This final assessment will unlock the college credits and Industry Recognized Credential – but you have to earn the chance to take it.
Remember that you need to try as hard as you can in an attempt for these academic and professional benefits, but also you are fighting for 2 vacation days off in May!

11:25 Critiques
Today Logan will be giving Constructive Criticism. Pick 1 thing that works, and 1 thing to improve upon next time. Remember we are separating the Design from the Designer. We are looking for actionable input.
Remember that Constructive Criticism can sometimes be subjective… on art which is also subjective. You don’t have to agree with the Constructive Criticism, but you have to hear it without getting defensive.
Tomorrow Brennan will be giving Constructive Criticism.
12:00 DH 9: Low Poly Forest Pack pre-production
This week we are going to be building low poly forest pack assets for our first game environment in Unreal Engine.
Design Homework 9 for the week will be creating concept art for the project.
I want you to sketch with 3 low poly assets – color required. To make them low poly I want you to draw the faces so it looks like something we would see in Blender, or low poly art in general. 3 and 4 sided polygon! No N-gons (faces with 5+ sides)!
N-gons are evil. More on that later.
Everything you draw needs to be setup with 3 and 4 sided shapes. Remember, this is LOW poly, a specific art aesthetic.
You need to create:
- A Deciduous tree – a tree that loses its leaves, like a Maple
- A Conifer tree – a tree that keeps its needles, like a traditional Christmas tree.
- A rock – a rock that is a rock.
Save your file as “(lastName)DH9.jpg”. It is due in 1 week.
12:15 Lunch (30 Minutes)
- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.
