10:45 Critiques

Today Jered will be giving Constructive Criticism. Pick 1 thing that works, and 1 thing to improve upon next time. Remember we are separating the Design from the Designer. We are looking for actionable input.

Remember that Constructive Criticism can sometimes be subjective… on art which is also subjective. You don’t have to agree with the Constructive Criticism, but you have to hear it without getting defensive.

11:35 Educational History in a table

This week you are going to apply your knowledge of tables (using tabular data) into a project that reviews your educational history. Where have you gone to school? We are all going to work with k-12, if a junior you can assume that your 12 is the same as your 11.

In addition you are going to find some imagery of your schools and incorporate them into this design to practice absolute positioning.

Start with a folder called “tables” and a file called “index.html”. Add in CSS assets as appropriate.

Create a table that includes the following columns of data:

A main heading across the top IN the table using a colspan
Grade
School
Type of school (Elementary / Middle / High School)
Favorite memory (from that year or that school). Could be a class, a video game, a sport, a movie, a trip, etc.

Each year of your schooling will go down the table. K will be at the top for Kindergarten, and the bottom with be 12 for your senior year of high school.

I want this table centered left to right on the screen and 1200 pixels wide.

In addition I want 4 small images (subjective, but don’t cover the table) of schools that you went to OR 4 different images of the same school. Use absolute positioning to place each in one of the 4 corners of the screen.

Style with CSS attractively.

In the end you are going to have a project that shows us a history of your education in a table, it gives us 4 visuals of your schools using absolute positioning, and is styled attractively.
