10:45 Critiques
Today Jerry will be giving Constructive Criticism. Pick 1 thing that works, and 1 thing to improve upon next time. Remember we are separating the Design from the Designer. We are looking for actionable input.
Remember that Constructive Criticism can sometimes be subjective… on art which is also subjective. You don’t have to agree with the Constructive Criticism, but you have to hear it without getting defensive.
Tomorrow Granger will be giving Constructive Criticism.
11:30 DH 36: Final Portrait
Our Final Design Homework of the year! In this final Design Homework of the year we are going to be creating our Final Portrait. So far this quarter we have completed:
- Baseline Portrait – where were we at the start of the Quarter?
- Eye Design Study
- Nose Design Study
- Ear Design Study
- Mouth Design Study
- Hair Design Study
- Portrait ratios and proportions Design Study
This week you are going to create your final Portrait incorporating what you have learned. This final piece will be something to go right into your Portfolio when applying to college, or something to hang in your home, post on your art station, etc.
You can choose a real person, you can draw yourself, you can draw a generic human – we just want to see human realism.
Draw it big, draw it clean, draw it detailed.
This final sketch is a triple weight project to reflect its importance. This can really help (or hurt) your 4th grade. Give it the time it deserves.
To turn your final work in we don’t need a website, we just want you to turn in both your baseline portrait, and your final portrait called “(lastName)FinalPortrait.jpg”. We will compare your work back to back. We want to see progression, just as if you were presenting your work to a college or employer. “I was here, but now I worked hard and now I am here.” It is the ability to learn and get better that people want to see.
As this is our Final Portrait for use in college (or display), we do not want to see construction lines, we want to see clean sketches – the best art you have created this year.
