10:25 Blender: Modeling of Oli

This morning you are going to be working in the career role of a 3D Modeler / Rigger for a project.

Modeling = art creation
Rigging = preparing for animation, in this case creating child->parent relationships to use with FK animation

I am going to give you concept art for a floating droid concept.

Name your character “oli.blend” and call it “oliComplete.blend” when you are complete so you have a backup copy.

The original artist is available for questions, and your goal is following the concept art as close as you can.

You will be using this second character, along with your Oli, starting on Wednesday morning. It has to be complete before you leave today! Ready to animate, so have all the parents setup ready to go.

I need these sheets back by lunch. Once I have 24, we go to lunch. Scan now.

Tomorrow you will come up with a story and storyboard 8 cells (2 full sheets of storyboard paper) of an animation that involves your two characters. While you model, think of what type of animation you could create with Andy and Oli?

10:45 Critiques

Today Andrew will be giving Constructive Criticism. Pick 1 thing that works, and 1 thing to improve upon next time. Remember we are separating the Design from the Designer. We are looking for actionable input.

Remember that Constructive Criticism can sometimes be subjective… on art which is also subjective. You don’t have to agree with the Constructive Criticism, but you have to hear it without getting defensive.
