Class Hours: 9:40 – 2:05
Mr. Cronin
Notes
- Tuesday!
- Aiden – you will have no science today – and you will tomorrow as a callback. This afternoon you will stay in CAWD in the afternoon.
- Let’s get your sizes for CAWD hoodies.
9:40 Attendance and Article
9:45 Blender
- Our first modifier – Subdivision Surface. How this compares to the Subdivide tool.
- Why are Quad’s important?
- Building a basic field, pond, ledge with 3 planes.
- Render angle. It seems so simple, but has a enormous impact on how believable your digital world is.
- Isolation Mode
- Material adjustments:
- Specular
- Roughness
- Metallic
10:35 Morning Break (10 minutes)
- 10 Minutes break – you have to exit the room.
- When the door near the TV is open, you are welcome to come back in.
10:45 Criqitues
- The final half of students will have their work presented today.
- As I have already copied the work down – everyone has the same deadline.
- I again will handle our Constructive Criticism today, and we will start with students giving Constructive Criticism next week.
11:35 CAWD Project: Farm
This week our muse will be a Farm. In Blender you are going to create a traditional farm that we may see on any field in the state.
Requirements:
- A Barn
- Terrain
Now you may say that is pretty light on the requirements, but the expectation in CAWD is that each week your skills increase, and the work product increases. CAWD is not a class that says “do 1+1=2” and you are done. There are always ways to push yourself, and I think you started to see that in our Castle projects.
I expect we will see a lot of:
- tractors
- silos
- farm houses
- crops
- trees
- windmills
- animals
- fences
- implements
You have full control to “impress” me, “impress” the class, and “impress” colleges and employers”. Doing the minimum won’t be impressive.
You will have portions of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to work on this in class. Of course you can work on this at home. It has to be ready to turn in at 9:40 Monday mornings.
Create 3 renders to turn in called:
- “(lastName)Farm_1.jpg”
- “(lastName)Farm_2.jpg”
- “(lastName)Farm_3.jpg”
So my files would be:
- “croninFarm_1.jpg”
- “croninFarm_2.jpg”
- “croninFarm_3.jpg”
This doesn’t have to be exactly what you sketch for DH3, but it could be. This doesn’t have to be a real farm you live near (or live on), but it could be. You could work from a reference image, or you could work from your imagination, it is up to you.
12:15 Lunch (30 Minutes)
- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.
12:45 Attendance and Article
12:50 Blender Practice
1:10 Afternoon Break (10 minutes)
- 10 Minutes break – you have to exit the room.
- When the door near the TV is open, you are welcome to come back in.
1:20 Afternoon Production
At this point all of the CAWD projects for the week (3 of them) have been assigned. You can work on any, just get the work done.
- CAWD Project: Farm
- “(lastName)Farm_1.jpg”
- “(lastName)Farm_2.jpg”
- “(lastName)Farm_3.jpg”
- Week 3 Agency
- “(lastName)Agency_1.jpg”
- “(lastName)Agency_2.jpg”
- “(lastName)Agency_3.jpg”
- Design Homework 3: Farm
- “(lastName)DH3.jpg”
And of course you can work on CAWD English.
