It is an EHS early release. Certain EHS students will leave for lunch today at 11:55 as your 7/8 starts at 12:25.
Today we will have an early break as we are getting our ID photos taken.
Today we will also start our last 2 CAWD projects for the week, one Photoshop, one Blender.
We are going to keep the doors open today for our PM break as we have a student visiting who may join our program – Andrew Mayhew – from 1-2. Jerry – is this your friend? Would you like to work with him?

9:40 Attendance and Article

9:45 CAWD Blender Project: Castle

A castle a large building, typically of the medieval period, fortified against attack with thick walls, battlements, towers, and in many cases a moat.

As your first official CAWD Blender project, you are going to create a Castle scene. Using the skills that we have covered, you are going to design something low poly, as if with toy blocks.

Don’t forget your skills:

Create and modify primitive objects
Setup materials (colors) object by object
3D scene manipulation, both in tools, as well as camera

Save your file as “castle.blend” inside your “week_02” folder.

By the end of the day Friday create 3 renders and save them as:

“(lastName)Castle_1.jpg”
“(lastName)Castle_2.jpg”
“(lastName)Castle_3.jpg”

So for Mr. Cronin it would be:

“croninCastle_1.jpg”
“croninCastle_2.jpg”
“croninCastle_3.jpg”

These files will be due to turn in next Monday at the start of class. For now just keep them in your “week_02” folder, we will go over turning work in next Monday.

Work and save, work and save, you will have portions of the next 3 days to work on this in class.

10:15 Morning Break (10 minutes)

When the door near the TV is open, you are welcome to come back in.

10:25 Class ID Photos

We are all going to line up outside of student services. They will call you in to get your photo. Once your photo is done you come back to the room and get to work on your Castle project – Ms. Brooks will be covering the room.

Please be respectful and listen to direction. The sooner we are back in the room the more time you get to do your CAWD work.

You will likely have to take your hat off, your headphones, etc. Just roll with it.

11:35 CAWD Photoshop Project: Organic Creation

Taking the starting Photoshop file we used yesterday – still on the public drive – create something organic. Design something which has lived, could live, or may live.

You can’t draw or paint any new art; you are limited to modifying the existing shape. No brush, pencil, shape tool – just copying and manipulating the existing shape.

You can use any adjustment as needed to visually tweak colors – and remember that you can constrain the effect of that adjustment using the clipping mask.

Acceptable topics include:

Animals
Plants
Aliens
Dragons
Etc – organic!

Unacceptable topics include:

Xbox
Surfboard
Sailboat
Butterfly (we made this yesterday)
Anything inorganic!

By the end of the day Friday, save your file twice:

“(lastName)Organic.psd” – the Photoshop file, with all your layers and adjustments.
“(lastName)Organic.jpg” – the final output in a JPG.

So for Mr. Cronin it would be:

“croninOrganic.psd”
“croninOrganic.jpg”

Just hold onto files for now in your Documents folder, inside “week_02”.
