Each Thursday morning SkillsUSA Design Competition prep work will come out.

By Friday at lunch – create a folder with your two names on the Public inside of the weeks “skillsUSA” folder. The folder is found at Public/CAWD. For example if Mr. Cronin and Mr. Bohmann were working together the folder would be:

“croninBohmann”

This week teams will tackle a new landing page for the Ski & Snowboard Express in Richmond, VT
(current website below). Read the details carefully.

This website is full of problems. Specifically that it is entirely designed as a table. That approach is so 2000. Read through the deliverables carefully and review my handout.

Deliverables:

Create a new landing page (home page)
Create a new logo in Adobe Illustrator (same as current logo) but as .png with transparent background. You will use the old logo to trace. Try to match the font
Create a new header to house the logo with a background image that is similar
Create a left side navigation to include the following links
- Home
- Tuning
- Rentals
- Ski Leasing
- Ski Report
- Contact Us
Main content area will include the following copy
Footer with the following copy

Links do not have to go anywhere – just dummy links. Take a look at the handout I am giving you on what not to include in your redesign. The client wants to keep the colors for the body and the navigation. Red is an accent color.

Remember to validate your code: HTML & CSS Validation and include meta data in head tag.

Create a folder for your project. Name it SkiWebsite
Create your new page as index.html and link all necessary files.
Upload everything to your team’s folder

If you are ready to push yourself, create a mobile version of this page for screens 578px and smaller. (for teams that are ready to tackle media queries).
