11:00 Critiques
Each week we will upload our work on Monday as a class. I will then present your work to the class. Every week we will pick a new student to proactive giving constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is a type of feedback that offers specific and actionable advice to help employees to improve. In the professional setting we need to be to talk professionally about the work, even if you don’t “love” the person who created it.
If selected, you will pick 1 thing that works, and 1 thing to improve upon next time. Remember we are separating the Design from the Designer. We are looking for actionable input.
Today Jace will give Constructive Criticism. Tomorrow Tennyson will.
11:30 DH31: Ratios in the human face
This week we are going to unlock one of the power ups for realistic human portraits. While sure everyone may look “different”, there and there are many unique traits that decide how we look visually, the fact is there are some time and tested “ratios” or guidelines that can help us.
I want you to lookup some of the classic facial proportions and incorporate them into your design. While you present this week we want you to share at least one of the lessons that you learned this week.
These are subjective of course, but they have been create over thousands of years. Lean into them. There are countless resources to learn this information. As we are in quarter 4, you can choose which method works best. Online reference? Video tutorial? Conversation with AI? For this last 6 weeks of school we are going to practice independent learning in our sketching assignments. The real world is coming…
You are going split the next piece of paper into 4 quadrants in portrait orientation. In each quadrant, draw a human face mockup using these ratios. Leave the construction lines in! Have 4 faces on your sheet so we can see your progress. Think of this as 4 first draft sketches.
Save your scanned sketch as lastNameDH32.jpg.
