Class Hours: 10:05 – 2:45
Mr. Cronin
Notes
- Happy June! The last stretch! Welcome to WEEK 37! (Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit)
- We have 1 week of academic school left, then a week of end of the year activities:
- 37 – “Passion Project” Final – all work due Friday June 7th at EOD (only project – final grade)
- 38 – end of year activities
- Monday – Certification exam (10:30 start) – EHS students that have conflicts make arrangements with that teacher today so you are in the room at 10:30.
- Have to take the exam, part of the program. If you can’t take it Monday, we may invite you back Friday to take it after school is over. This is not what anyone wants, so make sure you are here Monday.
- Tuesday – Movies (CAWD2 wants Garfield if possible). Leaving CAWD at 10:05 sharp. Again, EHS students that have conflicts make arrangements with your teachers today – we are leaving to go on a field trip, we can’t stay, if you can’t come to the movies, you need to have your parent say you are sick for the day or it will be a cut, as we as a program are not going to be here.
- We pay for tickets
- You pay for concessions
- Wednesday – Game Day / Social / Relax
- Not doing food
- Time to get all work off the machines
- Game
- Board games
- Draw
- Socialize face to face
- Karate
- THIS IS A GREAT DAY FOR EHS STUDENTS WITH CONFLICTS TO TAKE ANY EXAMS SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY OR TUESDAY.
- Thursday – Recognition Night Rehearsal, Recognition Night – LAST DAY OF CAWD! Everyone get off of work / other stuff so we can end the year with a nice night, get some photos, get some scholarships (I know people in the room that will win $), etc.
- Monday – Certification exam (10:30 start) – EHS students that have conflicts make arrangements with that teacher today so you are in the room at 10:30.
- Fire Drill tomorrow!
- Due to CAWD2 game testing today we will be doing our presentations of Week 36 work Tuesday at 11AM.
- Otto 1:45.
- On Wednesday we will be having a late applicant Step Up Day for students, and be hosting 4 visitors from 12-1.
- We will have a very early lunch.
- I will be looking for 8 students to work with these visitors for 30 minutes each. These students will teach the student hands on how to do something and then show me the results. Students will plan with each other in pairs so the lesson taught is different (3D modeling, 3D animation), or (Terrain creation, Illustrator 8 bit), or … etc.
- This is the final option for extra credit for the year in CAWD.
If students are looking for the last chance at extra credit this year, I need 8 students in pairs of 2 to spend 30 minutes teaching them now to model, or animate, or make 8 bit graphics, or whatever. I need to know these pairs by the end of the day or I am going to pivot to a different activity. I want to honor your time and not “voluntell” you to work with visitors this week. But I need to know today.

10:10 Last Looks
- Passion Project Draft
- Create a folder called “passionDraft” inside your Week 36 folder. You will choose what you wish to present. I would recommend 2-5 assets showing off your first draft work that could be:
- WIP’s
- OBS recordings of the process
- What didn’t work and you are pivoting away from
- etc
- Create a folder called “passionDraft” inside your Week 36 folder. You will choose what you wish to present. I would recommend 2-5 assets showing off your first draft work that could be:
- DH36: Final Portrait
- lastNameDH36.jpg – where you are now.
- lastNameDH31.jpg – where you were.
- Remember that DH36 will be a before / after presentation.
Last Looks up to break.
10:50 Morning Break (10 minutes)
- 10 Minute break – you have to exit the room.
- When the door near the TV is open, you are welcome to come back in.
11:00 CAWD2 Game Testing
Mr. Bohmann would like to get some honest feedback to his CAWD2 students who are developing their games. Over this 45 minute window you will be playing some games and giving constructive criticism to the Game Desigeners.
When not working with Mr. Bohmann you are going to be working on your Passion Project.
To end our year in CAWD we are going to work on our CAWD Passion Project. In this two week deliverable I want you to take inspiration from the area of CAWD that you enjoyed most, that you find yourself drawn to as a career or hobby down the road.
How is it presented?
Your final CAWD project will be presented any way that you wish. Remember that you are building your brand, and you want to show off as much as you have done. Still frames, animations, OBS recordings, pictures – whatever you need to do to show off your culminating project that really says “Hey, this is what I can do.”
This is your calling card, your brand – create and protect it.
When is it due?
10:15 on Friday, June 7th. You will have no time to work, this is only time to upload. The folder will exist on Thursday called “2024 Final Passion Projects” on the public.
I strongly recommend that you upload your work Thursday before you leave for the day, and simply test on Friday.
We will then:
- Present at 10:15 sharp
- Break
- English
- Study Guide
- Use the afternoon of Friday June 7th for presenting (if needed), any last minute gradebook checks and getting late work turned in. Any missing work for the 4th quarter must be turned in by Friday June 7th when you walk out the door – and remember 19 of you in this room are earning college credit, you need your CAWD Web related projects to be turned in.
No work can be turned in after Friday June 7th. That is it. Poof.
11:55 Study Guide
12:25 Lunch
- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

1:00 Public Speaking Practice
As we have finished our in class read-alongs, we are going to get some practice on a real world skill that we all could improve on – public speaking and thinking on your feet.
We will have some giggles, some stress, some practice – low stakes, but good practice.

- Passion Project Final
- Your final CAWD project will be presented any way that you wish. Remember that you are building your brand, and you want to show off as much as you have done. Still frames, animations, OBS recordings, pictures – whatever you need to do to show off your culminating project that really says “Hey, this is what I can do.”
2:20 Dailies
2:25 “19 Minutes”
4 of 5 days per week we will end our day in CAWD with the “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At 2:44 each day I will come to 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened in your story over that day’s reading session. It is neat to hear little pockets of a story, here and there.
