Thursday, September 21st

Thursday, September 21st

Class Hours: 9:40 – 2:05
Mr. Cronin

Notes

  • Thursday!
  • National Technical Honor Society – requirements are on the door. In short, this is a group of recognized “Smart people“. Being a member of the NTHS looks great on college applications!
  • The Student Leadership council is hoping to have its first official meeting next week, on Thursday, September 28th from 11:55 to 12:30 in M116. We are looking for one to two students from each program to participate. Student Leadership is about students of all programs coming together to organize events that give back to our communities. Some of the events Student Leadership has run in the past include the yearly CTE T-Shirt Assembly; the Halloween Costume Contest; Food and Clothing drives; and the “photo booth” setups that some of you may remember from last spring.
    • If interested to represent CAWD come and see me.
    • If more than 2 are interested we will have short (60 second) speeches and an election. I need to know your interest by the end of the day Friday (tomorrow).
    • This is another extra curricular activity which looks great on college applications!

2:20 Dailies

2:25 “19 Minutes”

4 of 5 days per week we will end our day in CAWD with the “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At 2:44 each day I will come to 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened in your story over that day’s reading session. It is neat to hear little pockets of a story, here and there.

2:45 Dismissal
