10:05 Attendance and Article
10:10 Favorite Band Website using a float
This morning you are going to create a website for your favorite band.
Content will come from your knowledge of your band, images from the internet, etc.
Style should feel like your band. If doing some Finnish Death Metal I expect a lot of blacks, whites, grays. If doing Vaporwave Electronic, maybe more bright fuchsia, greens, blues.
It is important to let the client / topic drive the design. Just because you love the color purple doesn’t mean that it will show up on every one of your designs. Let the client / topic drive the design.
Create a folder called “band“. Inside you will have:
- index.html
- css folder and style.css
- images folder and saved images
In this project you must successfully demonstrate the use of:
- Valid HTML5 code. Use Paragraphs, headings, lists, and images to tell us a little about this band.
- A float (at least 1) in your layout
- A design that reflects your band
- HTML for the structure of the page, external CSS for the design
- Images saved in an “images” folder
10:50 Morning Break (10 minutes)
- 10 Minute break – you have to exit the room.
- When the door near the TV is open, you are welcome to come back in.
11:00 Practice with Absolute Positioning
In the second project I want you to practice absolute positioning.
Create a folder called “absolute“. Inside you will have:
- index.html
- css folder and style.css
- images folder and saved images
In this project you must successfully demonstrate:
- Use of Photoshop to create 4 graphics that are 200 x 200 pixels in size. Each of the 4 graphics will say:
- Top Right (topRight.jpg may be a logical file name)
- Bottom Right
- Bottom Left
- Top Left
- Images saved in an “images” folder
- Place each image in the respective corner.
- HTML for the structure of the page, external CSS for the design
- Valid HTML5 code
I care less about design on this one, and more about can the designer create imagery in Photoshop, use absolute positioning, and create valid HTML5 code.
11:55 Lunch
- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.
