10:05 Today’s Notes & Attendance

Oh Yeah! – You made it to the final academic day in CAWD2 – smooth sailing – easy day today.

Let’s talk about next week: (if you are not going to be here any of the days – please let me know)

  • Monday
    • CAWD certification exam
    • We are taking it right at 10:30, you can’t be late this day! We will have an early morning cram session, and then take the exam.
    • Remember that it isn’t graded, it’s an opportunity that we give to you, and pay for. All we ask is you try your best. I think everyone in this room is going to be happy with the results.
  • Tuesday
    • CAWD goes to Essex Cinemas to see Garfield
    • We are leaving right at 10:05, you can’t be late this day!
    • We pay for tickets, you pay for concessions
    • Back by 1ish? Then relax when we return
  • Wednesday
    • Game Day / Get files off machines
    • SkillsUSA packing
  • Thursday
    • Recognition Night Rehearsal
    • Recognition Night
      • Tell family now!!!
      • Get off work now!!!
      • It is a really nice happy night to start your summer!!!
      • Class Photo after the ceremony – you can’t leave until we take the photo!

More Details:

CVU-     June 13:  Grad Breakfast at 8 with mandatory rehearsal right after.  It should end around 11 and Tech students can come here after that.  They do have a CVU BBQ but students are NOT required to attend that, so they can come to CTE, they just may be a little late.

SBHS-     June 13, 11am rehearsal and it is required.

BFA FX-       Rehearsal starts at 3:00 on June 13

Winooski HS –    Senior Lunch on June 13 at 12:30, rehearsal is on June 14 at 11am.    

Burlington HS-    Graduation is at 3pm on the 13th at UVM.  They are checking when rehearsal is, but think it is earlier that day.

Colchester HS-   I am still waiting to hear specifics, I’ll let you know.

Milton, MMU graduations are on June 8

10:15 Game Project Presentations – Order on the Board (Left to Right)

Each Game will make a short presentation about their game.

Talking Points:

  1. Name of your Game
  2. Description & Overview of the Game
  3. The core game mechanic
  4. The inspiration for your game
  5. Challenges you faced when creating your game (try to explain)
  6. Feedback you received during playtesting
  7. What you are happy about or what you learned/improved on
  8. What’s next (If you continued to develop your game, what would you do) to bring it to market

12:00 Books and Time Capsules

As a class we finished 97 books during our reading time and filled the board with book covers. Congratulations. Did you know:

  • Only 32% of the US population reads books for pleasure.

  • Reading can increase empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • Children who are read to at home have a higher success rate in school.
  • Reading can improve sleep quality.

  • Reading can reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Those who read outside of school earn over 20% more income in their lifetime

So Pick up a book this summer!

  • Time Capsule Readings – remember those?
