10:05 Today’s Notes & Attendance

  • SkillsUSA Competition is tomorrow:
    • Classroom opens at 7am
    • Plan to arrive by 7:30am – get breakfast
    • Be in your seat by 7:45
    • Business Casual – all competitors – see below
    • Game Teams arrive at normal time – 9:30 the room will be open. First presentations are at 10:10am
    • Web and Animation Competition prompts open at 8am – Information will be on the Thursday CAWD2 dayplan. Hard stop at 2:30pm. Read all requirements carefully
    • Animation teams – no BlenderKit – you must make your own materials. – I will allow textures and HDRIs from https://polyhaven.com/. No Models!
    • Web Teams – no code snippets or libraries
    • Review National Standards for each competition with your partner today
      • Game National Standards
      • Web National Standards
      • Animation National Standards
  • Resumes – Email to me or hand to me in person. You do not want to take a Resume or Clothing penalty!
  • Weather Announcement: If Essex Schools are open and on schedule, all contests will be running. You will want to make sure you are here, regardless of your home school. Remember, you have a partner!
  • If Essex Schools have a cancellation or delay, we’ll run all competitions on Friday.
    Web/Animation 8am – Game at 10:10
  • Our District is Essex Westford. You can check WCAX or our dayplan for information. I’d post an update by 6:15am if there was a delay or closing

What to wear: You should wear professional attire. Would you show up to your first day on the job in a sweatshirt and pajama bottoms? I think not.

For Competition day: Pants not shorts. A dress shirt. Polo or button down is good. Pants are required. While the SkillsUSA National competition outlines white shirt and black pants, we are allowing some leeway since the competition is primarily in house. Business Casual. Please don’t buy anything. I have SkillsUSA Polos and can give out if you don’t think you have a shirt that will pass.

Weather – if we have a weather cancellation or delay, we will host all competition on Friday, April 5th. We’ll follow the same times as the fourth. So Animation and Web teams will begin promptly at 8am.

More Notes:

  • Animation Teams – We’ll look at your animations as a showcase starting at 1:00pm. Eevee renders. If you are hurting for time, your 1pm showing can be a viewport render!
  • Web Teams – you will meet with me beginning at 1:25pm to show off your site.

If your team finishes – What to do?

If your web team is done – see me for your next practice assignment

If your animation team is done: Take a look at this little bit of information on Exaggeration (read, watch the videos). Then, download Judy Rabbit Model. It has a lot of rig controls. Explore the controls and create a short animation using exaggeration as a primary concept. Maybe Judy jumps between two obstacles, maybe Judy admires their reflection in another object, maybe Judy is strutting around town, Maybe Judy….

Render a short animation and place in Dailies (Public/CAWD2/Dailies
