- Skills USA begins in 9 days – that’s next week folks. Lot’s of prep to do this week. Next week will be focused on primarily Skills work to get ready for Thursday.
9:45 Unity – Using Triggers
Similar to how we added Colliders to obstacles, you can also use Colliders for items that the player can collect, such as coins. However, in this case, we should check the “Is Trigger” checkbox on the Collider component. This way, instead of stopping the player, the player will instead pass through the collider and trigger an event.
In addition, instead of using the
OnCollisionEnter2D() method, we will use
OnTriggerEnter2D() to detect the trigger and execute code related to the collectible item.
We are also going to create a new variable on the Player script for collecting coins. How might you display the number of coins collected on the game over screen?

We’ll continue our work on the animation project. I’ll demo adding audio, displaying waveforms and adding your mouth shapes. Don’t for get about the rest of your staging!
This project will not be due until…. April 13th. At that time we’ll have a bracket style competition to see who will be this year’s lip sync champion.
