Friday, January 9th

Friday, January 9th

Class Hours: 10:05 – 2:40
Mr. Cronin

Notes

  • Jackson – as of right now you are NOT in Drivers Ed next semester, but Emmy said that it is possible if you email her today. EMAIL HER TODAY.
  • 1 week until the 1st semester is done! I have to send grades to different sending schools on the afternoon of Friday the 16th after you leave for the day. If you want credit for any work from Quarter 2, I need it by next Friday the 16th.
  • Remember that you end up in English after lunch!
  • Happy Saturday birthday to Isaac!

10:05 Attendance and Article

10:10 Pass / Fail in honor of Isaac turning 15

Download the following “Chocolate Lava Cherry Cupcake” model from Turbo Squid. The white default material is fine – or you can tweak it, it to you.

Download the following “Happy Birthday” song from FreeSound.

Place in an Unreal level (any project).

Setup attenuation so that when we are far away from Cupcake and candles model, we hear nothing, but when we get close to the Cupcake model, we hear the sound.

Demonstrate with OBS and upload to the passFail folder on the Public. When complete raise your hand and I will check you off on the big board.

When checked off get to work polishing and creating your Lore!

Your game needs to be ready to present before you leave from school today (or at least Sunday at midnight).

10:50 Morning Break (10 minutes)

11:00 Lore / Polishing / Preparing for Presentations next Monday

On Monday morning the list of who is presenting will be made public.

It is these 8 students that will present their games on Monday.

The remaining 7 will present their games on Tuesday.

Big Picture Goals Before Monday Morning

  • Get game fully functional (this should already be done – previous weeks work).
  • Build in Lore level and widgets, have functional with buttons.
  • When complete, use this final time to polish everything – composition of assets, sounds, horizon line breakups, etc.

11:35 A Gentleman in Moscow

A Gentleman in Moscow is a reader’s dream — a wonder-full, nuanced story full of wit, insight, and imagination.

Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

11:55 Lunch

  • No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
  • You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

12:25 English

2:15 Dailies

2:20 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
