  • Friday! What do you think, should we always have 3 day weeks and 4 day weekends?
  • Skills Presentations today at 11:35. Make sure your deliverable is ready.
  • Remember that you end up in English after lunch.
  • Speed Design right after break…back to normal.
  • Variation on the Hadouken punch – is this the REAL Mario? Fatty needs to learn the counter – eat the pizza!
  • Don’t forget Daylight Savings this weekend – we will lose an hour, but gain light.

Game Design

Below is what your Creative Director has said your marching orders are. Have this ready for testing next Thursday @ 10AM!



Agent Flea

Defeating enemies that are spawning in waves.

  • First Person in Unreal.
  • Melee initially (shovel / trowel as starter weapon).
  • Maybe sea based gun / pool noodle as power ups.
  • Enemies spawn out of Ocean. Each wave of enemies will be harder and harder – the different “levels”.
  • Player is protecting Sand Castle against the waves of enemies coming from the ocean.

Win Condition

  • Beat Final Boss at the end of the 4th wave of enemies.

Lose Condition

  • Castle is smushed due to enemies from the ocean.

Level Design

  • Beach scene with road and decorative city.
  • 1 real building (the shop) where in between waves we can access power ups.
  • Tunnels left and right.

Sightless Studios

Hack n’ slash combat. Collecting fragments.

  • 3rd Person locked perspective with 2D sprites.
  • Built in Unity

Win Condition

  • Survive to the end of of Level 2 and beat the boss

Puzzles

  • 2D top-down
  • Built in Unity

Tutorial Level

  • Find key to access next room.

Level 1

  • Push assets in level to move on, freeing up a path.

Level 2

  • Destroying game elements to progress and free up path (bomb, fire, etc).

Win Condition

  • Get to the end of Level 2 with some sort of ending or pre visual of unplayable Level 3.

Lose Condition

  • Die in game (1 hit kills) and respawn at start of the level you died in.

2:20 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
