10:05 Attendance and Article

10:10 Pass Fail

This weeks Pass / Fail is going to be creating an animated deserted island scene. In the public you will find a model of a palm tree to start your work.

Follow the supplied storyboard and shots.

In this project you are going to practice:

  • Working off an existing asset (model) and story (storyboard).
  • Creating 3 unique palm tree sway animations (not all going the exact same animation – that would look fake) using Shape Keys. Basic Swaying true, but unique and subtle.
  • Reveal your animation in an attractive way with camera shots and video editing:
    • Shot 1 – Establishing shot, show everything.
    • Shot 2 – Top view, medium shoe, show the trees.
    • Shot 3 – Close up of 1 tree.
    • Shot 3 – Same footage as Shot 1, fading to black.
  • Sound design with ocean lapping on beach sounds. Could also put in some steel drum music if easier.
  • Total of 20 seconds long.

When you are done place your final output in the same “passFail” folder you found the palm tree file on the public. Call your file your last name, raise your hand, we watch on the big board, you get checked off, and you move onto your Facial Animation Project.

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
