- Friday’s Sylvie is going to be joining us. Mr. Bohmann wants Sylvie working as a student teacher in GAWD during these mornings, so she just another option to help with questions in Blender and anything that comes up.
- Remember it’s Friday – you end up in English after lunch! Back in your seats for our Speed Design.
- You will end up in English after lunch, and then back for our Speed Design.
- We didn’t have everyone hit the deadline for Speed Designs / Dailies yesterday. Remember this is part of your T&E grade – today let’s move to that render/save/upload process a bit earlier so everyone can get credit.
10:05 Attendance and Article
10:10 Value Contrast in Game Item Concept Art Exercise

This quick sketching exercise will practice our use of value, blending stumps, erasers, as well as get experience generating concept art.
In this short exercise to kick off our day, you are a Concept Artist working at Blizzard.
You need to create the concept art for a specific type of chair that will show up in the game. It is part of a foldable gyrocopter that you wear on your backpack while hiking around.
Take a clipboard, grab your art supplies, and create the concept art for this item. Be as accurate as you can and document reality itself, not your interpretation. I have 3 devices on the back tables so you can walk around and see from different angles, find a chair, just move your body.
Use Value Contrast so we have both white highlights in the idea, but also the darkest blacks. Value Contrast for an engaging image!
We are drawing until 10:30. 1, don’t rush, and 2 notice the people that aren’t trying as hard as they can, and are just finishing early. You don’t want to work with those people likely – just make a mental note.
You can’t touch the chairs – the way they are setup is the way they remain. You move around the subject to get different views to support your concept art.
These will be turned in by everyone before we hit Blender!
10:30 Blender

- Basics of 3 point lighting / Limitations of basic lights
