Notes
- Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
- Welcome to Week 25! 3 Day Week!
- Thursday Step Up Day 2025 – you don’t come here.
- Friday off – you don’t come here.
- … lets make our folders.
- Friday is the end of the Quarter! You have until Wednesday to get missing work in! I will accept work emailed to me Thursday / Friday if you are motivated, but I have to get grades finalized and in likely over the week that you may not be here.\
I will accept late work at any point this week. Let’s remove ALL of the zero’s in the gradebook. Simply upload onto the public in your folder, and let me know it’s there to look at.
Tomorrow morning when we arrive we are going directly into Game Play testing for the SkillsUSA Game Teams. We will spend from 10:10-11 (late break) presenting and documenting our games.
- Question 1: Was it clear what you had to do in terms of the objective, controls, backstory, etc? What could be done to make it MORE CLEAR?
- Question 2: What were the best parts of the art and the sound? What could be done to make the art and the sound BETTER?
- Question 3: Imagine you are plopped on this development team today. What would you suggest the game does to improve it’s chances of winning the Gold medal at the Vermont Video Game Competition?

11:35 Critiques

Each week we will upload our work on Monday as a class. I will then present your work to the class. Every week we will pick a new student to proactive giving constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is a type of feedback that offers specific and actionable advice to help employees to improve. In the professional setting we need to be to talk professionally about the work, even if you don’t “love” the person who created it.
If selected, you will pick 1 thing that works, and 1 thing to improve upon next time. Remember we are separating the Design from the Designer. We are looking for actionable input.
Any extra time will be used for a gradebook check and production! Remember that the 3rd Quarter ends this Friday and your life is harder than normal because….
- You are not here Thursday or Friday to get missing work in
- Some are not here Monday and Tuesday to even attempt to have an extension
- Seriously – 3 days.
So PLEASE everyone log in to your gradebook. WHAT ARE YOU MISSING? I will accept this missing work at any time this week!
12:20 DH25: 2 Pear’s in Color

This week we are going to watch a quick resource and create 2 pears. The tutorial will walk you through 1, and then you draw a second pear in the same style / size / ground.
To repeated, you sketch will have 2 pears. They can be identical, or one can be laying, but listen to the pointers the designer gives and apply to both.
Color is required for this. I have colored pencils in the art depot, and you could use markers – heck you could paint, use pastels – I just want this to be color in some medium.
You are going to have 2 days off. Explore. Push yourself.
Save your file as lastNameDH_25.jpg.
12:25 Lunch

- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

1:00 Steve Jobs

Based on more than forty interviews with Steve Jobs conducted over two years–as well as interviews with more than 100 family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues–Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur
Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

You have until EOD this Wednesday to get Q3 work in!
2:15 Dailies

2:20 “19 Minutes”

4 of 5 days per week we will end our day in CAWD with the “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At 2:39 each day I will come to 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened in your story over that day’s reading session. It is neat to hear little pockets of a story, here and there.
2:40 Dismissal
