Class Hours: 10:05 – 2:40
Mr. Cronin
Notes
- Welcome to Week 2! Let’s make our new folder that says “week_02”, and all confirm that:
- We have moved our “week_01” work from Desktop to the G drive.
- Our new folder is on the G drive.
- We remember that anything we use for a project (including downloads that may by default go in the downloads folder) needs to be put in the Google drive before you use them! Then all your files are accessible in the cloud, from anywhere on earth.
- Student Leadership (Student Council) Opportunity:
- Represent GAWD at CTE wide meetings
- Attend Wednesday SLC meetings to work on school projects (at lunch – every other week? Every 3 weeks? IDK)
- Build that resume for college and employment – take leadership roles
- If interested see me today.
- 1 minute campaign speeches will be tomorrow morning.
- Voting tomorrow morning.
- First meeting Wednesday morning!
- One week from today – on the 16th of September, we are having our GAWD Back to School Open House from 6-7:30. Come in, show your family your space and meet the faculty of CTE!

10:10 Last Looks

Last looks is when I give students about 15 minutes to upload their completed work to the “week_01″ folder on the public, in a folder that is your last name. Remember we aren’t doing any work today – this is just when we turn it in. Plan on not doing more than scan / upload each Monday morning – and the scanner may have a line!

Full credit goes to projects turned in on time, with correct file names, and the correct deliverables.
10:35 Blender

- Eevee – real time, super fast, not physically accurate. A big fat phoney – and that can be good sometimes.
- Cycles – a physically accurate renderer. NASA levels of detail. Slow, but with attention to detail – and that can be good sometimes.
- Samples / Adjusting
- Viewports vs. Renderer
10:50 Morning Break

11:00 Critiques

Each week we will upload our work on Monday as a class. I will then present your work to the class. Every week we will pick a new student to proactive giving constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is a type of feedback that offers specific and actionable advice to help employees to improve. In the professional setting we need to be to talk professionally about the work, even if you don’t “love” the person who created it.
If selected, you will pick 1 thing that works, and 1 thing to improve upon next time. Remember we are separating the Design from the Designer. We are looking for actionable input.
11:30 Traditional Art

- Storyboarding
- Value Contrast
11:50 DH2: Waking Up

Take a piece of storyboard paper and tape it into your sketchbook no the next page. You need storyboard paper for this.
If you don’t take a piece, or a couple of pieces, you are going to have to draw the structure of a storyboard paper on your sketchbook. This is FINE (actually kind of enjoyable) but it does take more time. Now you know.
11:55 Lunch

- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.
12:25 Attendance and Article
12:30 Adobe Accounts

- We pay for your Adobe Creative Cloud subscription in GAWD.
- You log in here, you log in at home, the login follows you.
- Today we will setup here and you can follow the same procedure at home. We need to start downloading:
- Premiere (animation editing)
- Photoshop (image editing)
- Illustrator (vector art)
12:50 A Gentleman in Moscow

A Gentleman in Moscow is a reader’s dream — a wonder-full, nuanced story full of wit, insight, and imagination.
Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

2:20 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
2:40 Dismissal
