10:10 Week 27 Skills Production

This week you and your partner are going to do your best to reproduce a famous action scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. From 1:38 to 2:08 of the clip above – starting on the back of Indiana Jones, through being held at arrow point.
Start – camera on Indiana Jones’s back.
End – the natives holding Jones with weapons.
This is a 30 second animation, and we want you do your best to do a shot by shot remake.
The FIRST element is you have to Storyboard the clip, basic, so you know what needs to be made. All teams must storyboard the scene out to work off of. I need to see this completed Storyboard Friday @ 10:15.
Second – the characters can be a Cube with a hat. I know this sounds strange, but I care about the pacing of the story, the camera angles, the effects. If ALL your humans are basic cube like models – almost place holders – that is FINE for this! Create pretty renders, build a good save scene with webs and vines, animate some great action, create a sense of excitement – remember there is no audio!
Save your file as lastNameLastNameJones.mp4 into your team folder by 12:55 Friday.

This week you and your partner have 3 distinct deliverables:
- 30 seconds of gameplay footage taken at widescreen orientation. Imagine this footage was going to be the base of a game trailer. Show off the BEST parts, the most engaging. Make sure to record the audio! Assume that your judge reviews this footage before they meet you – make it good.
- Presentation (Google Slides at a minimum) that covers the basics of your 10 minute presentation. It should be setup and paced. This is on one partners machine, while the game is on the other.
- Fixing all the issues from your user feedback, finalizing the game, making it as FUN as possible.
One partner should be the lead programmer to get footage and fix issues.
The other partner should be the lead public relations person and make the presentation. Who is going to be the lead to pitch to the judge?
Call your footage lastNameLastNameGameFootage.mp4
Get your footage uploaded by Friday at 12:55 in the your animation team folder!
Making your game as fun and as pretty as possible, all while upping the fun value, and crafting a 10 minute presentation for the judge – that is the focus today, Friday, and Monday.

2:20 “19 Minutes”

4 of 5 days per week we will end our day in CAWD with the “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At 2:39 each day I will come to 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened in your story over that day’s reading session. It is neat to hear little pockets of a story, here and there.
2:40 Dismissal
