10:10 Week 26 Skills Production

This week you and your partner are going to work on the National Animation competition from years past. Literally this is what the teams had to do at nationals.
Bad Piggies!

This year the judges simply gave the teams a color storyboard and said “Do this“. Funny story about the year before…
This project will involve a digital storyboard, but I have one under glass if you would like to take a look at it.
The goal will be to mimic the storyboard as best as you can – taking the existing modeling, animation and story and bringing it to life.
This may be what nationals or states is like this year. If it IS like this, you have to divvy up the workload and get working ASAP. Don’t go back and forth with your partner on who has to make the water vs the rockets, make a plan, and get to it.
Call your file lastNamelastNameBadPiggies.mp4 and upload to your team folder by 12:55 Friday!

We have 2 weeks left – 4 pure development days.
What we are going to do this week is sift through our User Feedback that we received last week. Skills Game Feedback for Game Designers – read without getting defensive, improve your Games.
I am going to call each team over to meet with me and I want to hear from the team:
- 2 problems that were mentioned in the game testing, and how you plan to solve them.
- What you are going to really feature in your game. What is the most fun the judge can have while they play? (This may or may not exist yet)
Assume that you are being called over after English today – so everyone can get some time to go through the feedback as a team.
We are giving game teams production time over these next 2 sessions (4 days). You get 10 minutes with your judge, what are you going to do?

1:00 Steve Jobs

Based on more than forty interviews with Steve Jobs conducted over two years–as well as interviews with more than 100 family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues–Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur
Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

Skills work due tomorrow 12:55!
2:15 Dailies

2:20 “19 Minutes”

4 of 5 days per week we will end our day in CAWD with the “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At 2:39 each day I will come to 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened in your story over that day’s reading session. It is neat to hear little pockets of a story, here and there.
2:40 Dismissal
