Thursday, September 11th

Thursday, September 11th

Class Hours: 10:05 – 2:40
Mr. Cronin

Notes

  • On the 16th of September, we are having our GAWD Back to School Open House from 6-7:30. Come in, show your family your space and meet the faculty of CTE!
  • Today before ID photos we are going to all meet Mr. Bohmann and spend some GAWD bucks to push your favorite design forward for our GAWD2 apar all project.
  • No Moscow today due to class photos before lunch. You will be dismissed to lunch from the Rink.
  • Today is Thursday – remember after lunch you end up in English at 12:25 sharp!
  • I wanted to note that our Week 1 T&E grades were just recorded as “Collected” – meaning that nobody was dinged for any transgressions (music too loud, not having drinks at shelf, missing dailies and speed designs). Going forward for this week and beyond we are having numeric grades as “traditional”!
  • Thank you to everyone that turned in missing work yesterday following our procedure. Missing work is able to be submitted Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the week. Any work turned in late going forward will have a letter grade off per day, and after 1 week the projects has a maximum of a 50.
    • I do want to note that there were lots of folders at the end of the day on the Public. I have no idea what was in those folders, I assume you were sharing work with each other. If you ever want credit for missing work make sure you:
      • Step 1: Create folder of your last name on the GAWD public.
      • Step 2: Upload work there as normal.
      • Step 3: Tell me you have missing work! Thanks to all the students that did this correctly yesterday.

10:10 Animation Pass Fail

In Blender I want you to create a text animation that tells a joke. You pick the joke – obviously class appropriate.

Start with the question, such as “Why did the chicken cross the road!” – this text should be on the screen initially at your animation. Leave it on screen long enough that we can read it.

Then animate the question disappearing (moving down, left, getting small, etc) and animate the punch line appearing. The punch line could be “To get to the other side!” Leave it on screen long enough that we can read it.

Render your animation out as lastNameJoke.mp4 and upload to the thursdayPassFail folder on the public. When complete raise your hand, I will check your animation on the big board.

Once checked off move into production!

11:15 GAWD2 Apparel Visit

Mr. Bohmann will introduce a way for us to crowd source some of the upcoming GAWD sweatshirt designs. We are going to get up an walk through his room (using his “GAWD Bucks” to vote on the design you prefer), and then leave directly.

The room will be locked till lunch!

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
