Class Hours: 10:05 – 2:45
Mr. Cronin
Notes
- Welcome to Tuesday! Any transportation issues on they way home, or are we good to go?
- Did you remember to review the School Handbook? Remember that the start of school paperwork says that you HAVE agreed to it. Here are the highlights:
- No bullying or harassment – if you see something, tell an adult so we can help solve the problem.
- Use the technology in class responsibly.
- No weapons / fighting / drunks / alcohol in school – do I have to say this?
- Thursday and Friday CAWD has their integrated English class. We are going to meet our English teacher Mrs. McCadden and work in her space. She will come get us the first week and show us her classroom.
- Starting Thursday afternoon the last activity we do as a class is 19 minutes of silent reading per day. This silent reading is of a book you choose and the book is kept on your computer in CAWD. For those without a book in mind Mrs. McCadden is going to take us to the library on Thursday and you can get a book. The final option is selecting one of the books I have in the back of the room – but you may find smoothing interesting to you to read on your own. You are welcome to read books that you have for homework in other classes. Here are the ground rules:
- No textbooks.
- No graphic novels.
- Push yourself! Choose a higher reading level and let’s build your vocabulary and intellect.
- Remember for students with afternoon classes:
- CTE students with A 7/8 classes, you will leave at our afternoon break.
- EHS students with B 7/8 classes, you will leave at 1:50.
- Trust me, you will get into the swing of things.
10:05 Attendance and Article
10:10 Adobe Creative Cloud Accounts
We will use Adobe software frequently in class, and this login allows you to download all the software at home to use. We pay for it as you are a CAWD student. Let’s login and find out if anyone can’t get it so we can start using Photoshop tomorrow.
10:20 Cell Phones
- Make sure silent / no vibrations.
- Using a cell phone is like looking at the sun, glance at it and move on.
You are all young adults that need to practice using cell phones responsibly. I have no problem with you getting a text, checking, responding, and moving on with life. When you “sit” on your phone, doom scroll, this is where it becomes an issue.
10:25 Discord
You can use, you can install. Same rules as cell phones. When you “sit” in discord, we have issues.
We try to treat CAWD students as young adults that are working on their moderation and technology management. For each individual student there may be different expectations (John can’t use his iPhone or Discord, but Joanna can) all based on the behaviors you present.
10:30 Music in Class
Whenever we are in production you can listen to music in class, so long as we can always get your attention, and we don’t hear it.
Just like with our cell and chat software, if it becomes an issue we will address with you individually. No it may not be equal, but it will fair – based on the behaviors you present.
10:35 Blender
- HDRI images – what an easy way to make our work “look good”.
- We are going to use Poly Haven to get more.
10:50 Morning Break (10 minutes)
11:00 Lego Building
This morning we are going to continue working on a procedural activity, this time with partners that I select.
In this exercise we are looking are your ability to:
- Work with a partner / communicate – you only get 1 construction book between the two of you, and are building 2 hot rods.
- Working clean
- Ability to follow a procedure and meet the goal
- Solving your own problems with a teammate.
Groups:
- Lion / Sebastian
- Isaiah / Trevor
- Mallory / Maxx
- Colin / Jacob
- MJ / Caleb
- Hudson / Adrian
11:30 Installing Google Drive
“Safely store your files and access them from any device”
Let’s download and see if we can get it to work!
11:45 Reviewing Cup Workflow
In this mornings exercise are are going to review yesterdays workflow:
- Practice using a primitive object firsts – and then customizing it
- Using Edit / Object mode
- Using Vertex / Edge / Face sub-objects
- Using extrude and inset
- Rendering and saving
The goal today is your soda cup is better than before – and we have a curvy straw!
12:25 Lunch
- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

A Gentleman in Moscow is a reader’s dream — a wonder-full, nuanced story full of wit, insight, and imagination.

We will show off what we create in dailies today.
