Class Hours: 10:05 – 2:40
Mr. Cronin
Notes
- Welcome to Week 23! Let’s make our folders now.
- Another snow day? We will be going to school to the 4th of July.
- Due to realities of less in class time this week I am removing the Critiques and the Study Guide to create more lesson project time before vacation.
- I have published Wednesday already so those that like to get ahead and work at home can start their Responsive Mini Portfolio.
- I am removing the 2 remaining Speed Designs (Tuesday and Thursday) to try to recoup some production time. That will be 30 minutes.
- After Skills Work turned in Friday, we are going to have the afternoon to socialize, veg, and just relax into vacation. YES you have to go to your 7/8 classes unless you get special permission to stay in GAWD.
- Trevor – we can talk later.
- If you are NOT going to be here on Friday (early vacation travels?) please let me AND your partner know ahead of time so you can work accordingly.
- Animation – find out Thursday.
- Game – Demonstration of Main mechanic – you need to stay caught up in deliverables or you are out of the Game Design competition.
- Web – find out Thursday.

This week we will continue to look at glass, at the reflections and refractions that we started last week. Notice the neck of the bottle work (around 14 minutes), and how this general idea can be applied to different shapes you come across.
Remember that you have different ways to “make white” that we have at the art station:
- eraser – the easiest option and you can find them almost anywhere. Just reveal the canvas underneath.
- white paint pens
- pastels
Save your file as lastNameDH_23.jpg.

11:35 VR Showpiece Production Time (FINAL DRAFT)

Week 21 – First week – get to it.Week 22 Middle week – doing the heavy lifting.- Week 23 (next week) Final week – this week, final tweaks.
Create final demo exploring all 8 required elements (4 image, 4 3D model, 2 animated models).
Demonstrate all you want credit for, and demonstrate attractively.
Save your Final VT Gallery progress as lastNamelastNamelastNamelastNameFINALVRGALLERY.mp4.
Only 1 team mp4 needs to be turned in per week – have the CD do it.
Creative Directors, this week you may need to turn into the task master, not really “doing” anything, but managing, getting files moved around, as well as working to keep development going in afternoons or whenever available.
VR Gallery populated with your team’s work

- Created a virtual art gallery to explore in VR.
- Each student would be required to “display” 2 projects in the gallery:
- one as an image (think painting on wall)
- one as a sculpture (think … sculpture – the 3D model, have to make sure materials and textures work)
- of the 4 sculptures from your team, 2 must be rotating – slowly, as if on a display.
- Each student would be required to “display” 2 projects in the gallery:
- Deliverable would be gallery exploration.
- Extensions – Lobby? Doors that open? Background music? Light switches?
12:25 Lunch

- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

1:00 Steve Jobs

Based on more than forty interviews with Steve Jobs conducted over two years–as well as interviews with more than 100 family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues–Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur
Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

2:15 Dailies

2:20 “19 Minutes”

4 of 5 days per week we will end our day in CAWD with the “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At 2:39 each day I will come to 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened in your story over that day’s reading session. It is neat to hear little pockets of a story, here and there.
2:40 Dismissal
