Notes
- Our end of year CTE Recognition Night is Thursday, June 12th at 6:30pm. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate our time together, take some photos, win scholarships, and kick off the summer! Please make sure to get off work, and let family know ahead of time.
- All missing work / current work / anything you want credit for must be turned in by Friday June 6th EOD. There are no exceptions, there is no extra time, I have to get your grades to your sending schools – some of you need these credits to graduate…

11:30 GAWD Final Portfolio

A Portfolio is a collection of work or assets that showcases a person’s skills and accomplishments.
This week you are going to build your Final Portfolio. This will be done in your installation of WordPress.
This is one of your last HS grades, and your last College grade – so make it count! We have some B+ students that are so close to getting into the A range….
In terms of visuals you can use any theme, and plugin, anything.
In terms of content here are the requirements:
8 total pages:
- Home – About you page
- Tell us about you, what your career and life goals are. Are you heading off to college (Like Mallory?), then link to that college program.
- Work 1 (swap out for project name)
- Include at least one image of final project
- Use headings, paragraphs, and lists to explain and document your work. English counts.
- Programs, time, team vs. individual – create a repetitive structure that is consistent for each work piece.
- Work 2 (same Work requirements as above)
- Work 3 (same Work requirements as above)
- Work 4 (same Work requirements as above)
- Work 5 (same Work requirements as above)
- Work 6 (same Work requirements as above)
- Resume
- Create a web version of your Resume with headings, paragraphs, and links
- Upload and create a linked PDF of your resume for printing, as if I were a hiring director or a college admissions officer
How can you improve your grade to make it the best it can be, in your last College Project?
- Multiple images / show the process of your craft.
- Upload videos to YouTube so you can have animations and movies embedded in your Portfolio.
- Spend time with narratives. If you write and have attention to detail like a 6th grader you won’t be able to do A or B level work.
- Include reflections on each piece (be consistent) and talk about where you would improve next time.
I will be handing out WorkKeys certifications today to students that earned them. These should be scanned in and upload as part of your resume.
What college credits did you earn this year? Are you earning Website Development (CIS-1151) in class? How did you do in the SkillsUSA State Design Competitions?
Really sell yourself!
This will be due Friday at 10:50 as well. I start grading it when English starts at 11.
11:20 Cronin reviewing the realities of the the last 2 projects in GAWD….

Your last 2 GAWD projects are due at 10:50 this Friday morning.
Your Final Portrait sketch you will upload.
Your Final Portfolio will tested, as it is live – nothing to upload.
OK – GET TO IT!

1:00 Steve Jobs

Based on more than forty interviews with Steve Jobs conducted over two years–as well as interviews with more than 100 family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues–Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur
Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.
1:20 Afternoon Break (10 minutes)

1:30 Speed Design

Speed Designs are 10 minute sprints in CAWD where we practice. It could be any medium – 3D, 2D, video, programming, etc.
1:45 Afternoon Practice & Production

Final Portfolio – due at break Friday June 6th
- Your spot on the cawdvt.org server using WordPress
DH 35: Final Portrait – due at break Friday June 6th

2:15 Dailies

2:20 “19 Minutes”

4 of 5 days per week we will end our day in CAWD with the “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At 2:39 each day I will come to 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened in your story over that day’s reading session. It is neat to hear little pockets of a story, here and there.
2:40 Dismissal
