10:50 Morning Break

11:00 Check in with team

Let’s get with you team and discuss what we can make that will help each other out for our Sky Level’s. Can each of your agree to make 1 game asset (by a certain time) to help build whatever you are going to make?
The team can go in different directions – come could do an airship, some could do a upper terrain level, some could do a magical floating island, but with that said…
What could the 4 of you create that could help all of your projects? When could you get it done by?
11:10 Sky Level and Collectable

We will now start our Level 2 / Sky Level and build your collectable.
The second level will have a moved player start, and the second level will NOT be accessible from Level 1. You will keep building and saving in your original file.
We will also model your collectable, which you are designing the Concept Art for as DH9. Whatever you make as a collectable has to be a blueprint, and have rotating movement. 3 on Level 1, and 3 on Level 2. All of this setup before we save our second level and move the player start.
We build Level 2 FIRST inside of Level 1, place the pickups, and THEN we save as a Sky Level.
We only duplicate the level (physically making Level 2 as a seperate level to load) after our Sky Level is built and the collectables are placed! If we do it before our Sky Level is built, then the Sky Level component will exist only in the second Level! We need the Sky Level art / collectables to exist and be viewable during Ground Level play!
Finally – we are NOT going to be creating game logic this week, but we do want to demo your progress. You are going to use OBS to document the following:
- Collections of 3 items on your Ground Level (they can be arbitrarily closer for this demo, not in final locations). Just use Destroy Actor so when you touch them they disappear.
- After you collect your 3rd item I want you to use a keybind manually to jump to Level 2. You will open the Sky Level and spawn at the new player start. Remember that player start locations and views are so important for engaging game experiences!
- Collections of 3 items in the Sky Level (again, they can be closer or in final location – all based on time it takes to collect). Just use Destroy Actor.
Try to have your OBS file no greater than 1 minute long for this presentation – call your file lastNameMultiLevelDemo.mp4.
11:55 Lunch

- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.
12:25 Attendance and Article
12:30 Unreal

- Level Blueprints – exist only in a single level
- Sound looping – finding some background audio for our games
12:50 A Gentleman in Moscow

Imagine being sentenced to spend your life inside a luxury hotel. In A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, Count Alexander Rostov faces exactly that. Trapped in Moscow’s Metropol Hotel after the Russian Revolution, he builds unexpected friendships and watches history unfold outside. The novel asks an important question: Can you still build a meaningful life when your freedom is taken away?
A class read-along gives us a chance to slow down, disconnect from screens, and get lost in a great book together. As we read, you’ll naturally build your vocabulary, strengthen your reading skills, and experience a story.

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
