- A Excellent – Honor Society Level – if you want a place in Honor Society (I nominate students mid year) – be an A student. In all classes. Looks great for college…
- B Above Average
- C Average – nothing particularly wonder, nothing particularly terrible. At this point I probably say “no” if you ask for a letter of recommendation.
- D Below Average
- F / Below – really substandard or missing work
- Transferable and Employability Grades
- T&E grades are done each week in GAWD. I specifically look at how you worked for the week. Did you follow directions? Did you work clean? Did you work well in our classroom with other students and adults? Were you swearing?
- Other examples of transferable skills include communication, problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, adaptability, time management, critical thinking, and dependability, which are valuable in any job or industry. T
- T&E skills are distinct from specialized creative or technical skills and can be highlighted on a resume to demonstrate a well-rounded and competitive professional portfolio.
- College Courses taken while in GAWD (if interested)
- Fall – 3 Credits – Digital Animation – ART-1420 through the Vermont State College System.
- Spring – 3 Credits – Website Development – CIS 1151 through the Vermont State College System.
- Other college courses see Emmy in student services! Some of us are starting a Friday morning drawing course soon (another 3 credits). Some are already in Pre-calc (another 3 credits)… – stack these college credit earning classes while in high school!
- Game Days
- Before vacations we do potlucks in GAWD, eat food, play games, watch movies, and have fun.
- Typically before vacations, first one Friday before Thanksgiving!
- Think of something you are AMAZING at making. Below was one of the buffalo cheese dips that was brought in. It was amazing. We have had the family from Asian Bistro bring in trays of Chinese food, we have had families that have homemade samosa recipes, last year we had Gabi make amazing ambrosia salad, different deserts and Lasagnas and so much good stuff.
- ANYWAY – start thinking of what you or your family is “known” for that you would like to share with the class? I will also maybe do a run to the grocery store that AM if we want to kick in $.

- Design Competitions
- Industry Recognized Credential Exams in the spring
- Portfolios
- By the end of the year you will create a Portfolio of your best work
- Week work model, with work due the following start of the week

11:35 Formalization of Assignment of our 3 Weekly Projects in GAWD and Work Time

Weekly in GAWD we will have 3 assignments. These projects are worked on Monday through Friday, and will be turned in a the start of class the next Monday – after the weekend. You will always get an extra weekend to complete your 3 assignments in GAWD.
#1 GAWD Project – hyper specific, this week, the Castle.
- lastName_1.jpg through lastName_3.jpg
#2 Design Homework – weekly sketchbook assignment, this week your free sketch.
- lastNameDH_1.jpg
#3 Agency Project – weekly self directed project.
- lastNameAgency_1.jpg through lastNameAgency_3.jpg
What could an Agency be?

An agency could be ANYTHING that combines creativity with technology. I can really be pretty darn flexible if you deliver on being creative with technology.
It can be a one off for that week, or it can be a multi week effort, etc.
It can be tutorials, watching professionals work.
This is new work product, this is new learning.
It is about being inspired by all that is around us and making cool stuff. This is often where the greatest engagement and growth happens, when students really have a hand in their education.
As of right now you have your 3 assignments for the week, and will have windows of production time in class to work when not learning new content or doing other activities. Use this time to your advantage. If you don’t work efficiently during class, you will have to use 9-10 AM, break, lunch, or finish the work for homework – just have ready to turn in first thing Monday mornings!
So… what do you want to work on now?
Castle? Makes sense… use the technology while you are in the room.
Agency in Blender? Makes sense… again, use the technology while you are in the room.
Design Homework? You could do it in class, but you could also do that at home? On a hike? At your cousins house when you don’t have access to our computers and classroom…
Up to you so long as you are being productive!
11:55 Lunch

- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

2:15 Dailies

2:20 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
2:40 Dismissal
