Wednesday, January 21st

Wednesday, January 21st

Wednesday Class Hours: 10:05 – 1:45
Mr. Cronin

Notes

  • Quick Survey to start the day instead of our article – please answer honestly – we are simply trying to make being at school as supportive as it can be.
  • Early release Wednesday! Callbacks:
    • Will go here when I know – so early in the semester though, likely none.
  • Visitors from BHS tomorrow. Names will show up in the in the Dayplan of who gets the visitors and extra credit.
  • SLC members are part of the Graduation Regalia group meet today at lunch – Quang? Bourdeau?

!!! GAWD2 / Mr. Bohmann / Testing @ 11:00 !!!

10:05 Attendance

10:15 Midweek Morning Meetings

This morning I am going to highlight an area from our CTE Transferable Skills Rubric for you to actively focus on for the second semester. Everyone has some areas they can grow, even students that have the A’s.

I want these to be somewhat quick as I want you with your team getting ready for your 11AM User Testing.

When not meeting with me – I want you preparing for testing at 11AM with your partner!

!!! Before you go to break you should have your game on your Lore Screen. Sound setup with headphones – volume up !!!

10:45 Cronin preps GAWD2 students

10:50 Morning Break (10 minutes)

11:00 GAWD2 Game Testing

GAWD2 Students and Mr. Bohmann are going to be giving public feedback that you and your game will process for Constructive Criticism.

I think it is also good for your team to see the feedback the other teams get, as well as each others Gamer Scores to see how you are stacking up against each other.

GAWD2 students play each of the 7 games and fill out this form – no login necessary.

Game Teams

  • One team member is the cheerleader of the game, setting everything up, explaining, answering questions.
  • The second team member is the note taker. Watch the user play the game. Write down notes that you see to talk about later:
    • The players are going LEFT when they get to the castle, we thought they would go right.
    • You can’t hear the music or audio.
    • Can’t make the jump between level 1 and level 2.

If you have to lead them to the end of Level 3, than do so – better that then have them fail at your broken level 1 over and over….

11:35 Lunch

  • No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
  • You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

12:05 Attendance and Article

12:10 Game Development Teams and Week 17 and Week 18 Assignment

We are starting each day with a meeting around the GDD.

12:40 1984

Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984) is a dystopian novel by George Orwell that explores totalitarianism, mass surveillance, and the manipulation of truth through the story of Winston Smith in the superstate of Oceania, ruled by the omnipresent Party and its figurehead, Big Brother.

Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

1:00 Afternoon Break (15 minutes)

1:15 Afternoon Practice & Production

Only 5 minutes as it’s Wednesday – Dailies at 1:20!

Week 17 and 18 Team Game Work (due Monday 1/26)

  • lastNameLastNameGameOverview.mp4
  • lastNameLastNameGameTrailer.mp4

1:20 Dailies

1:25 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.

1:45 Dismissal
