Mr. Cronin

Notes

  • Early release Wednesday. Callbacks:
    • Will go here when I know.

  • Schedule check (back to Monday). For the vast majority of you I won’t see you till next Wednesday.
  • Remember to get called out EARLY (like days early) for Monday and Tuesday – this is a request from the main office, as there may be a line and I have to legally keep you here until the attendance says you can leave. Set it up today.
  • Anyone have any missing work to turn in? Emmy and Alison are coming in after school to get updates on each and every one of you. What will your gradebook way?

10:10 Midweek Morning Meetings

Wednesday’s we will have our Midweek Morning Meetings.

You and I will meet 1:1 and we can:

  • See what you are missing for assignments
  • Go over the previous weeks T&E grades
  • Go over anything you are pretty confused about so I can review

When not meeting with me – I want you working on Production.

10:50 Morning Break (10 minutes)

11:00 WordPress Introductory Site

This week our GAWD Web project is going to be to explore and tinker, but create a WordPress CMS site around a topic.

Yesterday we just explored, went super random, etc.

Now what I want you to do is choose a single topic – Kung Fu, Snowboards, Nintendo, Florida, Chemistry, Family’s Construction company, Memes, etc.

Using your spot on the gawddevserver.com, use wp-login.php to log into your site and build and create a site based on your chosen theme.

Remember all you need is an internet connection to work on this live hosted site. Even Chromebooks, maybe even cell phones (though that may be pain). This weekend – or when you are off Thursday, Friday, Monday, and Tuesday, use the time to work.

This is the time to send it to meme world, to create something for your History class, explore all that is available to you, try a new block, look up some documentation, etc.

I am not putting any requirements on page numbers or lengths, block requirement, styles – but the students that set the standard for the most, best, work, will get the A’s.

There is nothing to “turn in” for this – it is going to be hosted live, so what we will do at Critiques is simply go to your site live site during critiques.

11:10 Step Up Day Prep

  • Look and feel / back to default OS theme / Blender theme / etc
  • Desktop files to use with students
  • Monitor colors and brightness

Once you get checked off we will move into GAWD production.

11:35 Lunch

  • No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
  • You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

12:10 Afternoon Practice & Production

WordPress Introductory Site

  • Nothing to upload – we will just go to your site.

Week 25 Agency

  • lastNameAgency_1.jpg through lastNameAgency_3.jpg

12:40 1984

Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984) is a dystopian novel by George Orwell that explores totalitarianism, mass surveillance, and the manipulation of truth through the story of Winston Smith in the superstate of Oceania, ruled by the omnipresent Party and its figurehead, Big Brother.

Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

1:00 Afternoon Break (15 minutes)

1:15 Afternoon Practice & Production

Only 5 minutes as it’s Wednesday – Dailies at 1:20!

1:20 Dailies

1:25 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.

1:45 Dismissal
