11:00 Midweek Morning Meetings

Wednesday’s we will have our Midweek Morning Meetings.

You and I will meet 1:1 and we can:

  • See what you are missing for assignments
  • Go over the previous weeks T&E grades
  • Go over anything you are pretty confused about so I can review

When not meeting with me – I want you working on Production.

11:30 Cauldron from Blender to UE workflow

In our first Blender / UE project, we are going to follow the workflow from creation of a 3D asset and migration to our Game Engine.

First – we are presenting your Concept Art FIRST when grading. You are telling us you are creating a 3 legged design with crystals? Sure! Just make sure that is what you end up creating in Blender, and that shows up in UE, that is demonstrated through an OBS screen recording.

Second – create your asset in Blender. Remember to use your Human for scale reference.

Finally – import into UE and place on the top center of the default world, on the yellow cylinder. Use OBS to record at 15-30 second video (if longer trim in Premier) that shows off your 3D model in your Game Engine.

If you think you are a big dog and want to stunt on the rest:

Convert your Cauldron Static Mesh into a Blueprint and add a “Rotating Movement Component” so that it rotates so you can present it as a pickup, so in game you can sit and watch it spin to present it.

It should look like your concept art, connecting from the pre-production phase to your asset in game.

This final MP4 will be the only way that we see your 3D work – make sure that you get a good walk around and let the camera hold on the object so we can see it.

Call your file lastNameCauldron.mp4.

11:35 Lunch

  • No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
  • You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

12:05 Attendance and Article

12:10 Blender

This morning we are going to watch one of the pioneering animations from early days of computer graphics, and start building our own Luxo Jr. inspired light to use next week.

We will start today, and continue next week.

12:40 A Gentleman in Moscow

A Gentleman in Moscow is a reader’s dream — a wonder-full, nuanced story full of wit, insight, and imagination.

Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

1:00 Afternoon Break (15 minutes)

1:20 Dailies

1:25 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
