Mr. Cronin
Notes

- Bourdreau and Quang – message about Student Leadership today. A note from Mrs. Wilson who helps run the organization:
- Hi all – just sending a reminder to please send your SLC representatives to room M117 tomorrow during lunch (students should bring their lunch) for our first meeting. We’re hoping to see at least one student from every program, and we hope to see all of our returning members come back!
- Leave today 11:25 snag lunch?
- Let’s say going forward we are going to use 30 frames per second for projects going forward unless specified.
- We are going to have ID photos tomorrow before lunch! Heads up if you want to wear something spiffy.
- Everyone should have gradebook logins that have been emailed to you, maybe even before you started class – so look for late August email with gradebook instructions – the title will be POWER SCHOOL LOGINS or something like that.

10:10 Midweek Morning Meetings

Wednesday’s we will have our Midweek Morning Meetings.
You and I will meet 1:1 and we can:
- See what you are missing for assignments.
- Go over the previous weeks T&E grades – where did you excel, where can you improve?
- Let me know if anything was confusing so I can review.
Turning in missing work

- Create folder on public drive that is your last name.
- Upload work there with correct file names.
- Let me know. Only letting me know that day when you have uploaded the work will I know to merge your work into the entire classes, and then grade it.
When not meeting with me – I want you working on Production.
Any missing work turned in TODAY will receive no deduction in grade! This is a one day special only…
After today each day late is 1 letter grade off, and after a week, any late work is a maximum of a 50. Still better than zero…

11:00 Blender

11:30 Kinetic Type Animation

For our main GAWD project of the week we are going to create a Kinetic Type Animation.
A kinetic type animation (sometimes called kinetic typography) is an animation technique where text is animated in a dynamic way to visually express ideas, emotions, or rhythms. Instead of words just appearing on screen, they move, transform, and interact with the viewer.
This week you are going to create a Kinetic Type Animation for a classic song that we all know the words to and all know the timing of: “Happy Birthday“.
As this is the 25th Birthday of the GAWD program, you are going to create a “Happy Birthday GAWD” animation.
Content Requirements
From a visual and timing perspective, we want to see:
- Happy Birthday to you! 3 seconds ish
- Happy Birthday to you! 3 seconds ish
- Happy Birthday to GAWD! 3 seconds ish
- Happy Birthday to you! 3 seconds ish
= total of about 12 ish seconds long.
Technical Requirements
- 4 Cameras and 4 shots (1 per shot above). You will use Camera Markers to jump between cameras.
- Timing the animation so it matches up the song we are all singing in our heads.
When complete render your animation out as lastNameHappyBirthday.mp4.
Extra credit opportunity – add the classic “Happy Birthday” music to the mp4. How? Figure it out – that’s why it’s extra credit.
11:35 Lunch

- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

1:25 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
