Class Hours: 9:40 – 2:05
Mr. Cronin
Notes
- Wednesday! Happy Birthday Tennyson!
- We would like to invite families and students to a Back to School Open House on September 14, 2023 from 6-7:30pm. This event will provide families and students an opportunity to meet with our teachers and tour programs and classrooms. You do NOT need to be here for 90 minutes – it simply a window of time to meet your family and friends, show off your classroom, answer questions, and demonstrate your budding skills.
- Remember that today (and all Wednesday’s) are early release Wednesday’s. Adjusted schedule, and we do not do our “19 Minutes” on Wednesdays – we just run out of time.
- Wednesday afternoons are “Callback Wednesday’s” at CTE. We specifically build in production time on Wednesday afternoons as other teachers may call you back to their classrooms to work on Chemistry, History, Drivers Ed, etc. During these production windows in the afternoons you can work on:
- The weeks CAWD project (1st of 3 weekly projects) – this week Castle
- The weeks Design Homework (2nd of 3 weekly projects)- this week DH2 Free Sketch
The weeks Agency project (3rd of 3 weekly projects)- none this week – starts Week 3
- Otto I need that parking pass you got yesterday back!
- Callbacks:
- Aiden to Science at 12:50
- EHS Academics still run (A&B Day schedules), just with a compressed schedule for early release.
- Let’s review our Dayplan so we are all comfortable.
- Peyton early dismissal at 1:45.
10:05 Attendance and Article
10:10 Adobe Creative Cloud sign-in’s
Adobe Creative Cloud is a set of applications and services from Adobe that gives subscribers access to a collection of software used for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, along with a set of mobile applications and also some optional cloud services.
This cost money – but CAWD pays for it for you.
The nice thing about what we are going to do shortly is you can download and use Creative Cloud at home. The login follows you. If it works here – it will work at home.
Let’s see if we can get 90% of the logins to work, whoever has issues we will fix.
10:20 Unreal Engine download / sign in’s
In CAWD we will use Unreal Engine 5 as our Video Game Development environment. Unreal Engine is a series of 3D computer graphics game engines developed by Epic Games, first showcased in the 1998 first-person shooter video game Unreal.
This morning we are going to start to download the current version, and we can only do that when we log in. It will take a while, but let’s all log in and press download it in the background.
Again – free – download at home!

- Setting up Blender to use the GPU – let’s maximize our speed
- Eevee (default) – fast, more “real time”, much more faking effects than reality.
- Cycles – slow, more accurate, use if interested in physically accurate lighting and effects such as ray-traced reflections.
- Samples / quality vs. time.
- Let’s play and see some differences. No right or wrong, just different, for different needs.
11:45 Fire Drill location
Tomorrow we will be having our first Fire Drill. When we have the drill we are going to go to a CAWD rally point. I need to take attendance outside and turn it in outside.
We have to get there efficiently, take attendance efficiently, and then stay together at our rally point.
The first drill is tomorrow – but today leading up to lunch I am going to take you all out to where we will go in preparation so we are ready. We will walk in the CTE door and you can go to lunch directly from the drill practice.
11:55 Lunch
- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.
