Class Hours: 10:05 – 2:40
Mr. Cronin
Notes
- Welcome to Week 18! Let’s all make our folders.
- This is a “normal” week for us, even though some schools are taking exams. There are no exams in CAWD. I don’t see why a 2 hour test is equal to a month of school and learning and projects, so I don’t do them.
- We will have an early lunch this week to work with the cafeterias odd schedule. It is what it is.
- Visitors Tuesday (AM) and Thursday (PM) this week – names of who will be getting the extra credit and working with visitors will be in the Dayplans as normal.

10:45 Design Homework 18: Final Quarter 2 Perspective Sketch
To wrap up our 2nd Quarter we are going to create a final sketch using perspective. You can choose which method of perspective you wish to demonstrate:
Think of this as a final perspective piece that can go in that portfolio that colleges, universities, and employers want to see.
Detail, color – make it amazing.
Save your file as lastNameDH_18.jpg.
10:50 Morning Break (10 minutes)
11:00 Critiques
Each week we will upload our work on Monday as a class. I will then present your work to the class. Every week we will pick a new student to proactive giving constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is a type of feedback that offers specific and actionable advice to help employees to improve. In the professional setting we need to be to talk professionally about the work, even if you don’t “love” the person who created it.
If selected, you will pick 1 thing that works, and 1 thing to improve upon next time. Remember we are separating the Design from the Designer. We are looking for actionable input.
11:30 VR / AR
Milestone 1
- Get the Quest 3 working with the VR Template Project
- Have all 4 team members jump in and and understand how to manipulate the world and their location using the controller grips
- Have what the person in VR/AR sees show on one of the monitors so people can take part in the process beyond having the goggles on
You will have time in class to work on that this week, and should plan on having Milestone 1 complete by the end of the day Friday. (and I think one team is done NOW?)
If we finish it faster than that, we can do more. If it takes more time, we will have to look at deadlines.
For now just work as efficiently as possible when we have AR/VR work time. I am watching that everyone takes part as integrated. I don’t want to see Mallory taking over and doing everything herself, ignoring the team. I also don’t want to see Mallory sitting on her desk working on her agency while the rest work toward Milestone 1.
When teams are ready to present their completion of each Milestone, just let me know. Tell me early and present to me and then I will roll out the next Milestones that each team is responsible for.
11:50 Lunch
- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

12:25 Steve Jobs
Based on more than forty interviews with Steve Jobs conducted over two years–as well as interviews with more than 100 family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues–Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur
Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

2:15 Dailies
2:20 “19 Minutes”
4 of 5 days per week we will end our day in CAWD with the “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At 2:39 each day I will come to 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened in your story over that day’s reading session. It is neat to hear little pockets of a story, here and there.
