10:10 GAWD goes with GAWD2 to Catamount

Remember that our goal today is to work with our groups so that we have 3-4 high quality, full sheets of paper that have concept art for an Outdoor Landscape. One full sheet per person.
Something like this with a singular scene?

Or this, with a bunch of individual design studies?

Design Homework 7: Outdoor Landscape Concept Art – an average of what all 3/4 of you sketch out. You will each do the project and get assessed, and what shows up in your Gradebook is the average of your teams grade. When we arrive at Catamount today you will work in teams of 3/4 and create your Concept Art for a Low Poly Forest world. This will be a group grade – your Design Homework’s averaged together. It is up to the CD and team members to make sure you move around the space, and by the end of our time at Catamount fill up a sheet of paper with different forest elements which could show up in your level.
The CD will manage the team!
Save your file as lastNameDH_7.jpg.
These 3/4 pieces of pre-production need to be complete by Wednesday AM to share with the group on paper – as we are kicking off our Low Poly Game World right after our MMM’s. Your team is relying on you!
12:15? Lunch

- No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
- You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

12:50 A Gentleman in Moscow

Imagine being sentenced to spend your life inside a luxury hotel. In A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, Count Alexander Rostov faces exactly that. Trapped in Moscow’s Metropol Hotel after the Russian Revolution, he builds unexpected friendships and watches history unfold outside. The novel asks an important question: Can you still build a meaningful life when your freedom is taken away?
A class read-along gives us a chance to slow down, disconnect from screens, and get lost in a great book together. As we read, you’ll naturally build your vocabulary, strengthen your reading skills, and experience a story.

1:25 Speed Design

2:20 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:
- Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
- Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
- Unplug
At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
2:40 Dismissal
