Thursday, September 18th

Thursday, September 18th

Class Hours: 10:05 – 2:40
Mr. Cronin

Notes

  • WorkKeys start next Monday!
    • Students that haven’t taken WorkKeys will start the pre-test on Monday.
      • Some will have an hour, some have unlimited time, some will take here, some in different rooms, all randomized.
      • You are testing for 2 days off in the spring! I am not kidding. If you get:
        • 3-4 on the test – you have to take the post test in May to gauge progress.
        • 5-7 on the test – you have demonstrated enough proficiency that CTE says “GG YO” and when the rest of the class takes the post test over 2 days in May, you have the days off.
        • I can’t think of any other time in school where your academic effort directly leads to days off.
    • If you had taken WorkKeys last year – great! You are going to work with Mr. Bohmann and the GAWD2 students on Monday morning for the hour that we test. And of this group, some people like Shelby and Wyatt and Ben (and others) already scored the 5-7, so they have earned those 2 days off in the spring.
    • Remember you end up in English after lunch…

10:05 Attendance and Article

10:10 Adobe AM

Thursday’s during our morning session we are going to use for Adobe work, getting comfortable with the different programs and workflows that are found out there.

Adobe makes a wide range of software which is found in our industries, and we will get a handle on the meat and potato’s, the most used pipelines.

10:50 Morning Break (10 minutes)

11:00 Animatic of Waking Up

An animatic is a preliminary, rough draft of an animated film or video, created by editing together storyboard images with sound to visualize the timing, flow, and camera angles before final animation begins. It helps filmmakers test the story, ensure everyone on the team is on the same page, and identify potential issues with the narrative or pacing, ultimately saving time and resources during the production process.

Check back to the Wednesday Dayplan for specifics.

11:35 A Gentleman in Moscow

A Gentleman in Moscow is a reader’s dream — a wonder-full, nuanced story full of wit, insight, and imagination.

Read along with Mr. Cronin. Improve literacy, word decoding, enjoy a nice story, and unplug from the world.

  • You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.
