10:10 Midweek Morning Meetings

Wednesday’s we will have our Midweek Morning Meetings.

You and I will meet 1:1 and we can:

  • See what you are missing for assignments
  • Go over the previous weeks T&E grades
  • Go over anything you are pretty confused about so I can review

When not meeting with me – I want you working on Production.

10:50 Morning Break (10 minutes)

11:00 RBT Client Work 100 / 65 / 0

This week we are going to go through the process of populating Wireframed site layout with Client Specific info.

Let’s take a look at the info that we were given and process it. Inside of the Public you will find a folder called “Site Content”. Let’s copy down the folder to our G drives and go through it.

Follow the directions and update your content page by page.

Here is the YouTube video you will need – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IY9QmjlCGQ

Here is a link to the existing Program page to copy and paste the work over – https://www.ewsd.org/o/cte/page/building-technology

Footer information (you are the designer, make it attractive)

  • Residential Building Technology
  • Chris Welch, Instructor – cwelch@ewsd.org
  • Dave Carter, Instructor – dcarter@ewsd.org
  • Center for Technology Essex
  • 2 Educational Drive, Suite 200
  • Essex Junction,
  • VT 05452
  • 802-879-5558

As this is our Client Work (to be used in the real world) the project is graded on a 100 / 65 / 0 scale.

  • You want the 100? You have to make it perfect, and this will take multiple revisions. Things that need to be revised will be discussed at Critiques. This will be the last 3-5% of the project. You will think things are trivial and subjective (they may be), but if it’s going to be a client ready, I would have to be proud to present it. I would imagine half of you keep working to get the 100. Things like Design Consistency, negative space, appropriate sized design elements, etc.
  • The 65. It’s fine. Don’t bother me anymore Cronin about this, I turned it in.
  • 0 – Nothing for us to assess.

Remember there is nothing to turn in locally – just continue to work and craft on your live site.

If anyone wants to get a practice presentation this Friday at 11AM we can certainly do that – just be ready to present live to the class and I will give my notes.

12:40 The Old Man and the Sea

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway tells the story of Santiago, an old Cuban fisherman who has not caught a fish in 84 days. The story shows that success is not just about winning, but about trying your best.

1:00 Afternoon Break (15 minutes)

1:15 Afternoon Practice & Production

Only 5 minutes as it’s Wednesday – Dailies at 1:20!

1:20 Dailies

1:25 “19 Minutes”

Every day in GAWD will end with “19 Minutes” of silent reading. Closing down our day with silent reading provides many benefits:

  • Improve Literacy Skills / Reading Stamina
  • Create space for a small reading meditation where we can disconnect from the world and get lost in a story
  • Unplug

At the end I will 3 students and ask for a 1 sentence explanation of what happened.

1:45 Dismissal
