10:10 Blender in Class Project

The project begins today and is due by the end of the day. No new concepts, just more practice and final output. Be proud of your work. Take your time. You goal is to get as close to the reference as possible (no horns or frog legs Jacob)

Sculpting Assignment

  • Pick one of the two characters (from Ratatouille)
  • Sculpt your character paying close attention to the exaggeration and deformation in the faces
  • Paint your character similar to what you see in the reference photos, lots of color details
  • Set up a nice three point lighting and like you see in the image set up a backdrop that is infinite white (white background behind character
  • Render in EEVEE from three different angles
  • Create a gallery of your renders and link from your homepage on your website. Link is called Sculpting (the link from your website will not be due until December 23rd.)

Drop renders in the Google Classroom dropbox (rat1_lastname, rat2_lastname, rat3_lastname)

Budget your time – Here are some suggestions

10:15 – 11:00am for modeling – you should end up with smooth faces and about 1million faces

11:55 fine tuning, painting, lighting and rendering

You may listen to tunes and take your break whenever you like. Have fun with it. We’ll do a showcase before lunch!

ProTip: Save often. Remesh as you add more details. Before painting you should be down to about .002 voxel size or smaller. Smooth everything. Add some roughness to your materials – shiny is no good.
