Course Syllabus

Your Canon T7 is a dependable cameras for shooting automatic and manual mode photography, including video.

Last week you got a camera bag with 2 lenses along with a strap, battery and battery charger. It is your responsibility to keep you camera in working order each day.

Activity – We’ll do some basics to properly set up our cameras. Starting with the menu button and then working our way around some of the button and icons around the body of the camera.

We’ll head outside and move around between the small garden & fields.

Using Automatic Mode, practice some shots. Make sure you capture these eight elements:

  1. Light
  2. Shadow
  3. Line
  4. Shape
  5. Texture
  6. Color
  7. Size
  8. Depth

We’ll return to the classroom when we are done. Pick your favorite photo and name it like this for example: texture_lastname.jpg. We’ll do a gallery walk of your photos.

Let’s jump in to Illustrator and tackle our first creative project – we need some wall decorations!

Goal: Create a Colorful Polygonal piece of art by selecting an image of animal / object / landscape / item / etc.. online and then using polygonal shapes and triangles to design a colorful shape recreation. Demonstrate the principles of contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity in your poster. Include some text to describe what it is. For example, the bike below should have some text that says: Bike, Bicycle or Velo for example

If you are up for added challenge, include gradients, feathering or transparency.

The fine details / deliverables:

Artboard set up: 8.5 x 11
Color Profile: CMYK (as we are going to print these)
Subject: You choose – just make in Polygonal

Demonstrate good principles of Design – Remember C.R.A.P

Save your .ai file in your Google Drive as well as a .png.
Organize your Drive now so you will have an easier time later!

Filename: first initial.lastname_polygonart.png
Place finished .png file in the Google Classroom Dropbox.
This project will be due on Wednesday, September 11th (one week from now)
