Class Hours: 10:05 – 2:40
Mr. Bohmann | wbohmann@ewsd.org
We are meeting directly in the school gymnasium. Do not begin your day by coming to the classroom.
GAWD classroom will be locked at 9:55 and I will be looking for you in the gym.
Why? We are going to an assembly with EHS and all of CTE
10:00 All School Assembly – Nick Tokman

Nick Tokman is an entrepreneur, speaker, and former cast member of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch. Known as “Sunshine,” he spent several years working aboard commercial crab-fishing boats in Alaska, facing extreme weather, long hours, and dangerous conditions. Today, Tokman uses those experiences as a motivational speaker, sharing lessons about perseverance, teamwork, overcoming setbacks, and pursuing meaningful goals.

11:55 Agency & Digital Logo Share Outs

Let’s have you share out your personal logo with us today. You can tell us a bit about the meaning, symbols and inspiration. Also, tell us what you might want to animate.
12:15 After Effects
Animation time – let’s practice animating a logo together, then you can try yourself.

Today we are going to see the power of Adobe across programs. We’ll begin by working together on a logo animation. The practice will give you enough tools to consider how you will / want to animate your very own logo.
Important: All items of your logo that you want to animate need to be on their own top level layer in Illustrator!
I’ll repeat that: All items of your logo that you want to animate need to be on their own top level layer in Illustrator!
Let’s look at an Illustrator Logo and Layers together with this sample
Link to instructions in case you get lost. Make a copy for your files – Pro Tip!
Next you will begin working on your logo animation. In preparation, you will want to consider which areas of your logo need to be on their own top level layer in Illustrator.
Collect in new layer will be a tool (menu option) we’ll be using in Illustrator as well as the Release to Layers command which redistributes all the items in a layer into individual layers
Assignment – Animated Personal Logo
The best way to tackle this project is to begin by looking at your .ai file. You can apply animations to individual layers, but first you need to make sure that the items you want to animate are on their own top level layer.
- Once you have all the layers you want to animate on their own layer, save your file.
- Open AE and choose import file as a composition (retain layer sizes)
- Drag the new composition to your timeline
- Double Click and now you have access to your layers
- Begin animating
- Animating your logo is a entirely creative process. You can have more than one version if you like.
Duration: 5 seconds max
Filename: AnimatedLogo_Lastname.mp4
Save both the AE file, your AI file and your .mp4 in your Google Drive.
(Note you are exporting as .mp4.
This assignment is due – Tuesday, October 6th
