9:45 CAWD Project: Mad Lib

Mad Libs is a phrasal template word game. It consists of one player prompting others for a list of words to substitute for blanks in a story before reading aloud. The game is frequently played as a party game or as a pastime.

The game was invented in the United States, and more than 110 million copies of Mad Libs books have been sold since the series was first published in 1958.

– Internet

Today we are going to create our own Mad Lib. We are going to use:

  • HTML to create the structure of the project
  • CSS for the style
  • JavaScript for the interactivity

Requirements:

  • 7 inputs
  • Themed for CAWD
  • Final output appears “somewhere“
  • CSS setup for Responsive Design – remember that we choose which interface to view based on the D20.

Extra Credit Opportunities!

  • Have the story fade in as compared to just show up.
  • If all 7 inputs are “CAWD” then the browser location changes to cawdvt.org and we see no story.
  • Use of a different type of form input that would allow … something to happen in the browser?
  • ? Sell me something. I want to reward the hard workers.

Create a folder called “madLib” inside your “week_32” folder. All project assets go in this folder.

10:35 Morning Break (10 minutes)

  • 10 Minute break – you have to exit the room.
  • When the door near the TV is open, you are welcome to come back in.

10:45 Study Guide

Show me the passphrase and move on with CAWD work.

11:20 CAWD Project: Mad Lib

Remember the extra credit options! Help each other out – so long as only you are typing the code.

12:15 Lunch (30 Minutes)

  • No food in the room / eat in the Cafe.
  • You are welcome to return to the room when you have finished eating and work / hang out.
