10:07 Monday Mail Check

Every Monday for five minutes you are going to check your email for any updates, new mail, etc… The school and professionals in the workplace use email (generally) as a primary tool for communication. Delete or archive email that you do not need anymore. We are going to practice keeping a clean inbox and responding and staying up to date on communications from the school, colleges and colleagues.
You can also set up filters for your email, unsubscribe from email lists and customize your inbox.

11:00 Welcome to Digital Photography

Your Canon T7 is a dependable cameras for shooting automatic and manual mode photography, including video.
Last week you got a camera bag with 2 lenses along with a strap, battery and battery charger. It is your responsibility to keep you camera in working order each day.
Activity – We’ll do some basics to properly set up our cameras. Starting with the menu button and then working our way around some of the button and icons around the body of the camera.

We’ll head outside and move around between the small garden & fields.
Using Automatic Mode, practice some shots. Make sure you capture these eight elements:
- Light
- Shadow
- Line
- Shape
- Texture
- Color
- Size
- Depth
We’ll return to the classroom when we are done. Pick your favorite photo and name it like this for example: texture_lastname.jpg. We’ll do a gallery walk of your photos.
This weeks Photo Assignment – Due Tuesday, September 8th
Welcome to your first digital photography assignment: 25 Free Photos! For this project, the subject matter is wide open. Capture 25 images of whatever catches your eye and reflects how you uniquely see the world. Set your camera to automatic mode so you can focus entirely on thoughtful framing, composition, and visual interest. Once you have taken your shots, create a Google Slides presentation to display your collection, placing exactly one photo on each slide. Use this assignment to experiment, observe your surroundings, and share your personal perspective through your lens!

Learning something new usually includes new vocabulary. As we encounter new vocab terms, I’ll add them to the whiteboard. You are encouraged to use these terms when communicating about photography.

Let’s jump in to Illustrator and tackle our first creative project – we need some wall decorations!
Goal: Create a Colorful Polygonal piece of art by selecting an image of animal / object / landscape / item / etc.. online and then using polygonal shapes and triangles to design a colorful shape recreation. Demonstrate the principles of contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity in your poster. Include some text to describe what it is. For example, the bike below should have some text that says: Bike, Bicycle or Velo for example
If you are up for added challenge, include gradients, feathering or transparency.

Color Profile: CMYK (as we are going to print these)
Subject: You choose – just make low poly
Demonstrate good principles of Design – Remember C.R.A.P
Save your .ai file in your Google Drive as well as a .png.
Organize your Drive now so you will have an easier time later!
