11:00 Pinball – Flippers…. Flipping

Let’s look at the Hinge Joint 2D to get our flippers moving. Last week we started scripts for the flippers however I’m confident we can get do the flipper work with one script and then assign which flipper and input action we need.

Torque is a physics concept that we can apply to our rigidbody. Torque is the twisting force that causes rotation. In Unity, if we are turning left, the torque number is positive.

I’ve created a visual on the board to assist us with creating the hinge and setting limits.

MJ’s flippers

After we get the flippers working – we’ll move to digital designs from our paper designs. The digital designs can be created in Illustrator. I’ll demo my example for you.

  • Start with a sprite sheet in Illustrator 400 x 400. Include your bumpers and flippers
  • Design a background for your pinball game in your theme. 1080 x 1920px.
